This event is for all Yr 11 parents and students and will give vital information, top tips for revision and details about the upcoming mock examinations. Orders for revision guides will be taken on the evening. Careers Fair This Wednesday, 21 st November, we are hosting a Careers fair during Period 4 & 5 and after school which will be held in the Library and 6 th form Common Room. This is primarily for students in years 11, 12 & 13, but will be open after school for all other year groups. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to start thinking about the next stage of their education and what they hope to do in the future. We have lots of local and national employers attending, as well as colleges, training providers & universities. Please see the poster attached for more information Mock Exams Mock exams will be taking place between 26 th November and 7 th December. Please encourage your child to begin work on preparing for these exams. A Mock exam timetable is attached to this newsletter for your information. Education Awards Congratulations to Bethany Ellis in year 7 who has been nominated in the Sporting Achievement category. Well done!
Attendance Prize vouchers can be won for 97% and above attendance for this half term. Make sure you re in it. Fundraising The Sixth Form Leadership Committee are in the midst of organizing a raffle to raise money for a defibrillator which will serve the local community. They have written to local business to ask for prizes, so far they have received donations from Costa, the Station and Wacky warehouse to name a few. There will also be donation boxes around the local area. They have other ideas to help fundraise including a Movie experience for lower year groups. Dance Festival On Thursday 22 nd November 2018, 14 students are taking part in the Lancashire Schools Dance Festival at Preston Guild Hall. We have been working very hard to create a dance based on Evolution (survival of the fittest) under this year s festival topic of Planet Earth. If anyone would like to come and support us at this event, tickets are available, and can be purchased online on the Guild Hall Website or over the phone at the Guild Hall Box office Tel: 01772 804444. Tickets are priced at 4.50 for concessions and 7 for adults. We would love to see you there to support all the students hard work and effort. Homework Club There will be no homework club in the Lawther Library on Wednesday 21 st November 2018, due to the Careers Fair.
