BIRTHDAYS PB4L Happy birthday to those in the St Brigid's community who celebrate their birthday this week: Addison H, Lily K, Sarah F, Aston P, Cooper N, Summer D, Abi S, Lilliana D, Evie F, Kendall R and Mrs Klos. I show respect for others on the playground when I speak up if I do not like what someone else is doing. 1. Use your own voice speak up and say stop it 2. Walk away 3. Go and get help from a teacher I saw some great examples across last week of different teaching points for being kind to your friends like these from Prep:

CARITAS MONEY BOXES Just a reminder to please send in your money boxes for Caritas if you still have one at home. The money raised will be finalised and sent to Caritas next week. FIDGET SPINNERS In line with our policy in relation to not bringing toys/personal items from home, we ask that students refrain from bringing fidget spinners to school. If parents wish to discuss this matter further, please contact a member of the Administration Team. UNDER 8'S DAY - Thursday June 15: 11:30 Am - 1:30 Pm Come and celebrate this year s theme with us: Please mark this special day on your calendars! The teachers are busily organising all of the activities for you and your children to enjoy together. A note has been sent home asking for for support on the day and also to indicate the number of siblings who will be attending for catering purposes. If you are interested and able to devote your time to accompany a small group of children, it would be very much appreciated. There is a tear off slip down the bottom of the letter that can be completed and returned to your child s teacher. We look forward to having you join us! VINNIES WINTER FOOD AND CLOTHING APPEAL Our Year 6 students have begun organising the Vinnies Winter Appeal and they are asking you to get into the spirit by collecting donations. Once again we are hoping for a terrific response to this initiative and thank you in advance for your generosity.

Please donate any non-perishable food items, blankets and warm clothing via your child s classroom. DENTAL VAN VISIT The Dental van will be arriving at St Brigid s school on Friday 26 th May at 10am.

YEAR 2 NEWS We hope that all our mothers, step-mothers, grandmothers and aunties had a very special Mother's Day on Sunday! Last Friday afternoon, 2B had a farewell party to say goodbye to Mrs Anderson. The children ate some yummy cupcakes with blue icing and also gave her a few gifts. Mrs Anderson was touched by all of the thoughtful goodbye letters and cards that she received from each student. We wish Mrs Anderson and her family all the very best with her new baby, when he arrives. Year Two would like to officially welcome Mrs Bradshaw to 2B and St Brigid's. We look forward to getting to know her in the weeks to come. Mrs Bradshaw will work each Monday and Tuesday in 2B. Please help to make Mrs Bradshaw feel welcome when you see her around St B's. 2A presented a beautiful Mother's Day liturgy last Thursday and we look forward to taking part in 2C's assembly on Thursday (Week 5). 2B will lead assembly next week, Week 6. All are welcome! Character Parade is next Wednesday (Week 6). We've heard many children discussing with much excitement which book character they will be dressing up as next Wednesday! The morning is always great fun and we hope the you can join us. No doubt there will be lots of photos to add to the next big newsletter! Your child should have brought home a letter relating to the upcoming Public Speaking task. Each child can bring in their favourite book and they need to describe why they like this book and also describe what they like about one of the characters in the book. It is another opportunity for your child to work on their public speaking skills, so please spend some time helping them practise their talk, using the Success Criteria (outlined on the note). If you are not sure when your child is presenting, then please see your child's teacher. Enjoy your week everyone! Shoe Boxes Parents, do you have any old kid's shoe boxes lying around that you don't need? Year 2 are collecting them for Under Eight's Day. If you have any please drop them into any Year Two class. Thank you!

CHILDREN'S DAY PCYC BICYCLE CENTRE Year 4 were lucky enough to go to the PCYC Bicycle centre at Nerang to learn about bicycle safety. All the students had a great time and the staff said, they were very impressed with how well mannered and behaved our students were. Well done Year 4 for representing our school respectfully. HELP NEEDED IN THE LIBRARY We have recently taken stock of 650 new take home readers!

These books will really bump up the number of reading resources in each classroom but we are calling for your help to get them all covered. If you have some time to spare, could you please contact our lovely ladies in the library. Mrs Coman, Mrs Baker and Mrs McLeish would be most grateful! LIBRARY NEWS We hope your Character Parade costumes are coming together and not causing too many sleepless nights. We can t wait to see the children dressed up for our annual Character Parade.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the imagination workshop, there were plenty of crazy voices and lots of laughter! The students had fantastic suggestions which Nadia brought to life. We were very fortunate to have her visit our school and the children have been inspired by her creativity.
