Athletic Director Zeke Lopez elopez@ausdk12.org Athletic Assistant Astrid Juengling ajuengling@ausdk12.org Albany Athletics Boosters President Michael Saaf michaelsaaf@gmail.com Vice- President Kendra Knowles knowlesclan@comcast.net Secretary Kari Finch karijf@yahoo.com Treasurer Yasmin Wofford yasminnw@hotmail.com The community of Albany, California invites you to participate in a super short, super FUN, beginner-friendly, spectator-friendly triathlon on Sunday September 27th, 2015! The event will be held in and around the Albany Aquatics Center. The goal is to raise funds for Albany High School & Albany Middle School athletic programs, promote fitness in the community, and showcase just how fun a multisport event can be! This is a "super sprint" distance triathlon with the same course as in 2012 & 2013: a 400 meter swim, followed by a 10 km (6.2 miles) bike ride and then a 3 km (1.9 miles) run. The swim will take place in the outdoor pool in heats of ~18 swimmers with 2 people splitting each lane (17 laps at 25 yards/length = ~400 meters). The bike course consists of 11 laps of a 0.9 km loop around the pool + park + high school (clockwise). The run is 3½ loops on the same course as the bike course (counterclockwise). For more information visit http://albanytri.com or email info@albanytri.com MAKE YOUR DONATION USING PAYPAL Donations can now be made online by visiting the AHS Athletics website. Who we are: A newly formed group of coaches, parents, administrators and Albany community members supporting all of the athletes and athletic programs at Albany High School and Albany Middle School. What we do: Fundraise to support sports programs and boost Albany sports spirit. When we meet: Once a month at 6pm at Albany High School in Room 106 (see below for dates). Meeting announcements are posted in the AHS and AMS Daily Newsletter and on the AHS and AMS websites. Fundraising: The gap we fill: The minimum cost to operate the Albany Athletic Program is $300,000. The AUSD provides approximately $120,000. AAB (Albany Athletics Boosters) is responsible for raising the remaining $180,000. Together, these funds pay for equipment, coaches salaries, tournament fees, officials, uniforms, transportation, athletic trainer - all to support all Albany student-athletes. Per-athlete obligation: To meet this responsibility, each team is expected to raise a minimum of $200 per athlete (AHS), $120 per athlete (AMS), per season. This money goes through the AAB (Albany Athletics Boosters) account and is used to meet the basic needs of our Athletic teams. Anything raised above and beyond the $200/$120 minimum is designated back to the team and is available for extras like warm-up suits, sweatshirts, etc. Team Example: If a team has 30 players, they are required to raise $6,000 to pay for the operating expenses (salaries, uniforms, transportation, tournament fees, officials, etc.) for our Athletic Program. Any money raised beyond $6,000 is available for the team to use for things other than basic needs. Teams that consistently fail to meet their fundraising obligations may be dropped as a sponsored sport Volunteering: To volunteer or to find out more details about fundraising, please contact one of the Albany Athletics Boosters (AAB) executive committee members: Michael Saaf (michaelsaaf@gmail.com), Kendra Knowles (knowlesclan@comcast.net); Kari Finch (karijf@yahoo.com); Yasmin Wofford (yasminnw@hotmail.com); or Zeke Lopez @ elopez@ausdk12.org Albany Athletic Boosters Meeting Dates: August 31, October 5, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 14, April 18, May 9 Let s work together to support all of our wonderful student-athletes!
