Recognition Long-term school directors are being honored across the state by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. School directors today have a difficult job in our complex society, giving more and more of their personal time to this nonpaid, volunteer effort. The following school directors are recognized for years of service ranging from 8 to 12 years (in four year increments). The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association proudly presents this Certificate of Appreciation to school director Mark Adams for 8 years of service. Background Information: School Board Director Douglas Teagarden has submitted his letter of resignation from the McGuffey School District, effective November 10, 2011. His term as school director concludes in December 2011, and he is not seeking re-election. Administrative Recommendation: Accept, with regret, the resignation of Douglas Teagarden as a member of the McGuffey School District Board of Directors, effective November 10, 2011. 2. Background Information: Dr. Tatiana Zeballo requests homebound instruction for Student A, grade 10, for medical reasons. Administrative Recommendation: Approve Application for Homebound Instruction for Student A, grade 10, for medical reasons. 3. Background Information: West Virginia University requests the following student teaching placements in music with David Haines at McGuffey High School: January 23 March 9, 2012: Larissa Hardin March 12 April 27, 2012: Robert Ford Administrative Recommendation: Approve West Virginia University students Larissa Hardin and Robert Ford to student teach with Dave Haines (music) at McGuffey High School as listed above pending receipt of all required clearances. 4. Background Information: The administration requests permission for students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 to participate in the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS). The survey provides information that is used by Gateway Vision to continue the Too Good for Drugs Program at McGuffey MS/HS and can be used by McGuffey Communities That Care to obtain grant funds. All information collected from students is on an anonymous basis. Administrative Recommendation: Approve students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 to participate in the 2011 PAYS Survey at no cost to the district. 5. Background Information: The McGuffey Boys Basketball Boosters organization requests permission to hold a middle school boys basketball tournament at McGuffey Middle/High School on February 16, 17, and 18, 2012. Administrative Recommendation: Approve McGuffey Boys Basketball Boosters request to hold a middle school basketball tournament at McGuffey Middle/High School on February 16, 17, and 18, 2012. 6. Background Information: The McGuffey Varsity Girls Softball Team requests permission to travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Ripken Experience Softball Tournament from March 21, 2012, through March 25, 2012. The McGuffey Girls Softball Boosters will be responsible for all fundraising efforts to cover the cost of the trip for all participating girls...attachment Administrative Recommendation: Approve McGuffey Varsity Girls Softball Team to travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Ripken Experience Softball Tournament from March 21, 2012, through March 25, 2012. Background Information: Pamela Stewart, German teacher, has submitted her official, irrevocable notification to retire effective upon the conclusion of the 2011-2012 school year. Personnel For Your Information: Superintendent Beverly Arbore announces that tenure and permanent professional employee status has been earned by Jacob Stone, Spanish teacher, as a result of three consecutive years of satisfactory teaching in the McGuffey School District and fulfillment of requirements as set forth in the Pennsylvania School Code, Title 24, PS 11-1108. Business 1. Background Information: The 2011 fall adult education classes will be completed the week of November 14, 2011. There were a total of 91 participants. Payment is due to the class instructors at the conclusion of the adult education program. Background Information: Scott Burchill requests permission to attend the 57 th Annual Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials Conference and Exhibit, March 7-9, 2012, at Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey PA. Estimated costs: Registration $299; Meals $90; Lodging $150-2 nights; Mileage $200 (Total estimated cost $889). Administrative Recommendation: Approve Scott Burchill to attend the 57 th Annual PASBO Conference and Exhibit, March 7-9, 2012, at Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey PA, at an estimated cost of $889. 4. Background Information: Andrews & Price has submitted invoices with the billing date of October 31, 2011, in the amount of $3,115.83. 5. Background Information: Peacock Keller has submitted Invoice #55888 for fees and costs associated with the county-wide reassessment litigation. McGuffey School District and Washington School District are sharing the expenses of the litigation. Administrative Recommendation: Approve payment to Peacock Keller for Invoice #55888 in the amount of $262.96, as presented..attachment 6. Background Information: Architects HHSDR Engineers submitted Job #3697 Statement #4 in the amount of $2,563.20. [Construction Administration Phase Complete] for professional services. Administrative Recommendation: Approve final payment in the amount of $2,563.20 to Architects HHSDR Engineers for Statement #4, as presented.attachment 7. Background Information: The replacement roofing project at the High/Middle School is substantially complete. The second payment to the roofing contractor Tuscano-Maher Roofing is due. Administrative Recommendation: Approve Application No. 2 and payment in the amount of $42,390 to Tuscano-Maher Roofing, Inc., pending certification by architectural firm HHSDR.......Attachment 8. Background Information: The District has provided snow plowing services to Transformation Learning during the winter season. The arrangement has worked well for both parties and does not create issues in regard to the District maintaining its own parking lots. Administrative Recommendation: Approve the Snow Plowing Agreement between McGuffey School District and Transformation Learning, as presented.....attachment 9. Background Information: Act 32 of 2008 created tax districts in Pennsylvania responsible for the collection of Earned Income Tax. By law, the tax district will begin collections of current EIT on January 1, 2012. School districts and municipalities must designate a delinquent Earned Income Tax collector to begin once the 2011 EIT collection year has concluded. November 17, 2011 Page 8

Administrative Recommendation: Appoint Keystone Collections Group to collect all delinquent Earned Income Taxes beginning July 1, 2012, including any outstanding taxes as of the July 1 st transition date.
