REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF EDUCATION INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 206 ALEXANDRIA, MINNESOTA JULY 20, 2015 The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 206, Alexandria, Minnesota, was called to order by School Board Chair Dean Anderson at 7:02 p.m. in the District Office Oak Conference Room, Alexandria, Minnesota. DONATIONS AND GRANTS To approve the submission of a grant request by Carlos Elementary School to apply to Partners for Parks to fund the cost of a new concrete area next to the school s playground and to approve the following donations and grants: RESOLUTION FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT 206 TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS WHEREAS, the District 206 School Board encourages the support of the district s educational programs through the funding and support of grant opportunities and donations that meet the goals and objectives of the school district; WHEREAS, the school district will control and maintain all grants and donations to ensure that the interests of all students are met; WHEREAS, the grants and donations listed below have been reviewed and approved by the administration of School District 206; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School District No. 206, State of Minnesota, to accept the following grants and donations: The Alexandria High School Volleyball Booster Club donated $3,000 (salary and benefits) to hire an assistant varsity volleyball coach for the 2015-2016 school year. The Alexandria Area High School FFA and Greenhouse received a grant of $2,000 from the DuPont Pioneer Community Investment Program. The purpose of the grant was to establish funds for the greenhouse/alexandria FFA. FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES To approve the following fundraising activities: The Alexandria Area High School Choirs will be selling snacks and coffee for intermission breaks at the Concert Association activities to supplement expenses incurred for a choir festival in October, 2015. The Alexandria Area High School Choirs sold hot dogs and soda at Elden s on June 24, 2015 to raise funds for instructional supplies, the Minnesota Festival costs, and to cover the cost of accompanist fees for the fall, Christmas, and spring choir concerts. The Alexandria Area High School A-Club will provide concessions for activities to fund the purchase of awards, letters, etc. for all activities programs. 3

FIRST READING OF DISTRICT POLICY REVISIONS OPEB TRUST AGREEMENT & ORGANIZATION RESOLUTION SECOND READING OF FACILITY HANDBOOK AND POLICIES SUPERINTENDENT GOALS FIRST READING OF THE SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION PROGRAM SCHOOL DISTRICT COOPERATIVE SPONSORSHIP HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAM REVENUE To approve the first reading of the following district policies: Policy 406 Public and Private Personnel Data Policy 410 Family and Medical Leave Policy 705.1 School District OPEB Trust To approve the proposed OPEB Trust Agreement and Organization resolution. To approve the second reading of the 2015-2016 Facilities Handbook and Policies booklet. To approve the 2015-2016 superintendent goals as presented. To approve the first reading of the Superintendent Evaluation Program. To approve the following agreements: Service agreement with Runestone Area Education District for District 206 to provide student support services, support staff assistance, business and fiscal host services, and technology support/services for the 2015-2016 school year. Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Course and Reimbursement Contract between Minnesota State Community & Technical Colleges (Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead, Wadena, and Distance Ed Online) and School District 206 for the 2015-2016 school year. To approve the cooperative sponsorship between School District No. 206 and New Testament Christian School for the 2015-2016 school year in area of girls volleyball. To approve the district s Health and Safety Program Revenue for the 2015-2016 school year. The board reviewed the Health and Safety budget per UFARS Finance Codes for fiscal years 2015, 2016, and 2017. There are no changes to Policy 462 Health & Safety. 4

CERTIFICATION OF SCHOOL BUS DRIVER COMPETENCIES To approve the annual certification of school bus driver competencies. Vote on Consent Agenda: Ayes 7 Nays 0 Motion Carried. REPORT TO SCHOOL BOARD BY FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICES ART PROGRAMMING REPORT TO THE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE FIRST READING OF THE DISTRICT 206 STRATEGIC GOALS ADJOURNMENT The annual report on Food and Nutrition Services was presented to the school board members. Art instructors provided an overview of the revised art curriculum. The state art standards remain unchanged. Motion by Dave Anderson, seconded by Robley, to approve the first reading of the 2015-2016 Strategic Goals. Ayes 7 Nays 0 Motion Carried.
