Illinois EPA Announces Annual Environmental Education Competition for Fifth & Sixth Grade Students 2018 Program Encourages Youth Creativity to Protect Environment and Honoring the State s Bicentennial SPRINGFIELD Fifth and sixth grade writers and artists from around Illinois are invited to compete in this year s Poster, Poetry and Prose Contest sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA). This year s contest theme is Illinois is Celebrating 200 Years! How Can You Be an Environmental Pioneer? focusing on helping to preserve and protect our air, land and water for the next 200 years in honor of Illinois s bicentennial. Educators are asked to introduce historic environmental problems and how Illinois laws and citizen actions have helped make a healthier environment. Students are challenged to answer the question, What would a modern environmental pioneer do to ensure Illinois has a sustainable future?. Interested 6th grade students should should see Mr. Davis in the main office for more detailed information.

Choir and Band Concert News Friday, December 8, 2017 @ 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the gym will be a 6th/7th Grade Band/ Choir Concert. The 6th Grade Choir will sing, the 6th grade beginning band/6th grade advanced band/7th grade band and jazz band will be performing. Teacher please remember to excuse 6th grade students for rehearsals throughout the day.

Important Band Announcements! There will be no jazz band rehearsal after school on Tuesday, December 12. Wear concert dress black and white to school on Monday. All band members performing in the concert Friday night must check the band room door program today for the correct spelling of your name, chair order, and symbols next to your name.

Beta Club Announcements The last day to turn in a hat and glove set is Friday, December 8th. Beta Club is caroling at HyVee on Tuesday, December 12th from 2:45-4PM. Beta Club students who plan to attend should meet up in Mrs. Zinnen s room after school on Tuesday.
