DISTRICT 5 WRESTLING 2009-2010 I. It is that time of the year for the submission of our wrestling schedules for ranking purposes. If we all work together and each of us does our part, rankings should be mailed in a timely fashion. II. III. Wrestling Team Championship A. Ranking determined by total points accumulated by the total meets, excluding tournaments, scrimmages, and exhibitions. Important Dates: Team Championship A. District Cut-off is Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2009 B. District 1 st Round-Thursday, Feb. 4, 2009, #6 @# 3 / #5 @#4 C. District Team Championship is February 6, 2010 at the highest school (except too small of a gym.) D. PIAA First Round is February 9, 2009 (5-1 vs. 6-2) E. PIAA Finals are February 12, 13, 2009 F. Important Dates: Individual Championship A. Districts - February 26,27, 2010 at Windber High School B. Regionals March 5, 6, 2010 at Johnstown War Memorial C. States - March 4,5,6 2010 at Hershey District Cut-off and Weight Control Deadline February 19 th IV. Point system for Team Championship A. A team receives 4 points for a win. 1. Bonus points are awarded for a win over class AA school, total 6pts. 2. Three points awarded for a win over AAA school, total of 7 pts. B. No points are awarded for a loss regardless of opponents classification. C. Victories over out-of-state opponents or non-piaa opponents will receive the lowest points, total of 6pts. D. Tournament games, scrimmages, and exhibitions games do not count. E. Forfeiture of a contest will be governed by the PIAA rules. F. Rankings are based on all school schedules that are submitted to the District 5 statistician by the first legal playing date for that sport season. No games added after the season begins may be counted. G. Ranking is in order of a total number points accumulated divided by the number of games played, excluding tournaments, scrimmage/exhibition games. V. Tie Breaker system for Ranking Only A. Head to head victor, if the teams played each other B. Record vs. common opponents C. Bonus Points as calculated by wins by defeated opponents divided by games played. D. Winning percentage calculated by wins divided by games played. E. Greatest number of wins, excluding tournaments F. Coin toss at site convenient to both schools
