Students receive materials for Registration during school- 1/23/2019 Students fill out Registration forms with their teachers/parents by 1/29/2019 Each student needs to register for 7 bells! 1 English (1) 1 Math (1) 1 Social Studies (1) 1 Science (1) 3 Electives (should include Health and PE if student still needs them)

Additional classes to consider PE (traditional, summer, no credit sport exemption) Fill out parent permission exemption form Play 2 sports, marching band, cheerleading or JROTC Turn in coach-signed verification forms after each season Band Art Choir Foreign Language (need to be enrolled in English 9CP or English 9Adv to take French 1 or Spanish 1) Other electives offered- if your program requires an application, it must be turned in with your registration sheet.

Students have current teachers sign what classes they are recommended to take 1/24/19 & 1/25/19 Please remember that NCAA Eligibility Center courses must be college prep classes or honors to meet eligibility standards.

Students meet with a counselor one-on-one to go over their class choices. (1/29 and 1/30) Parents can sign up to be at the scheduling meeting at the end of this presentation in the lobby. If the parent does not agree with course recommendations, they can submit a Petition to Upgrade to Jennifer Vineyard at the Jr School guidance office.

4 credits of English (English 9.10,11,12) 4 credits of Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 equivalent) 3 credits of Social Studies (American History, Government, and World History) 3 credits of Science (Biology, Physical Science and an elective science) 1 credit of Fine Arts (not required for Career Center students).5 credit of Health

End of Course Test Requirements for the Class of 2018 and beyond 1. English 1 (9 th grade English) 2. English 2 (10 th grade English) 3. Algebra 1 ( 7 th, 8 th or 9 th grade) 4. Geometry (8 th, 9 th or 10 th grade) 5. American History (9 th grade) 6. American Government (10 th grade) 7. Biology (9 th grade)

How many End of Year Tests Do I Have to Take? Seven What Scores on the EOY Tests Do I Need to Earn to Graduate from High School? You Need 18 Points Total on the Seven Tests AND Enough Points Earned in Each Subject Area! Students will need minimum of 4 total points on the Two English Tests (i. e. Combined total of 4 points for your EOY tests taken for 9 th grade Eng. and 10 th grade Eng.) Students will need minimum of 4 total points on the Two Math Tests Students will need minimum 6 total points on the three remaining tests in Social Studies and Science Students will need 4 extra points from any category

How are points awarded? Advanced= 5 points Accelerated= 4 points Proficient= 3 points Basic= 2 points Limited= 1 point

What are considered Remediation Free ACT test scores? *ACT Remediation Free Scores English = 18 Math = 22 Reading = 21 SAT Remediation Free Scores Critical Reading = 450 Writing = 430 Mathematics = 520 Reading = 450 *ACT Prep Class Strongly Suggested

Ohio Honors Diploma Requirements (You must fulfill all but one of the requirements to qualify) 4 credits English 4 credits Math 4 credits Social Studies 4 credits Science 1 credit Fine or Practical Art.5 credit Physical Education.5 credit Health.5 Financial Literacy 3 credits Foreign Language (or 2 years each of 2 separate languages) GPA of 3.5 (UNWEIGHTED) ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1280

New Honors Diploma Options The State of Ohio has developed new alternative Honors Diploma Options. In addition to the traditional Academic Diploma with Honors, students have the option of obtaining the following new options: Career Tech Honors Diploma STEM Honors Diploma Arts Honors Diploma Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diploma For specific requirements go to http://education.ohio.gov/topics/ohio-s-graduation- Requirements/Honors-Diplomas

NO changes in course selection will be made after the last day of school!!!!! (this includes adding/dropping study halls) All students will be given their schedule before school is released and they must return it with a parent signature. After May 30, 2019, no changes can be made to either semester.
