ail ann Dear J. L. Mann Family, As the school year is coming to a close, there are many celebrations and thanks to be shared. Through all of your hard work and dedication, J. L. Mann has been named one of America s Most Challenging School by the Washington Post. In addition, J.L. Mann has been recognized as an exemplar school by the ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign. Not only has the school been awarded academic distinction, it has also attained great athletic accomplishments. J.L Mann teams won an exceptional eight region championships, three upper state championships and won state championships in Girls Lacrosse and Girls Soccer this year! J. L. Mann had 72 players deemed All-Region in which 23 of them went on to be named All-State Players. The J.L. Mann students have also been rewarded for their efforts in the arts. J.L. Mann students have been recognized for their accomplishments in the visual arts at the art show and Artisphere as well as a magnificent performance in the musical, Hairspray. Our students should be proud of their accomplishments in academics, athletics, and the arts. Congratulations to the graduates of 2017! You have been a class to boast about. In your time at J. L. Mann, you have contributed to eight state championships, countless academic accomplishments, numerous fine art honors, and raised over three quarters of a million dollars for charity. A big congratulations is also given to the loving and devoted parents and guardians of these students. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to your student over the last four years. J. L. Mann would not be the same school without each and every one of you. A huge thank you to the volunteers at J.L. Mann for your hard work and willingness to participate and help in the various school activities. Thank you to the PTSA for all of your support throughout the year. A special thank you to the teachers for your diligence and engagement with your students and I hope you take great pride in the accomplishments of the school. As I look forward to the 2017-2018 school year, I am continuously enthusiastic about the prospect of a new year in a new building. The completion of the new wing will provide a new home for our already prosperous programs such as Accelerate, New Tech, and our Magnet program. Furthering our academic excellence, J. L. Mann is excited to add AP Capstone to our growing list of academic programs. I hope the summer finds you rest and rejuvenation for another successful year together. Charles S.
