The IPA acknowledges this which is why we have launched the IPA Program, culminating in a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Through our partnership with Deakin University you can receive your MBA in half the time and at half the cost. The IPA Program will open a world of opportunity from Board positions, to enhancing services for your clients and businesses to receiving due academic recognition for your standing in the community. Achieve MBA degree Advance to FIPA Stage 2 - Deakin University MBA The first six units have been designed to accommodate the needs of our Associate members (AIPA) who are working towards applying for Member level of membership. If you re a Member (MIPA) or Fellow (FIPA) of the IPA, you can join the MBA component of the IPA Program immediately. 4 Networking and support Throughout your studies in the IPA Program you ll have access to career counsellors and be provided with the opportunity to network with Deakin MBA alumni. Deakin offers a tailored Career Development Program, an active Deakin MBA Alumni Chapter and regular networking and professional development events. 5 Experiential learning Learn by doing. Some of the subjects available can be done via a residential intensive at the Deakin Geelong campus enabling you to test your new management skills in a realworld environment. These subjects cover the refining of your accounting and finance skills. While you re studying, you can take part in our Mentored Experience Program which allows you to gain the required three years of accounting experience. Following the successful completion of the first stage of the IPA Program, Associate members then advance to full membership of the IPA and you can commence the Deakin MBA, the second stage of the IPA Program. A standard MBA covers 12 units of study, however Deakin has approved MIPAs and FIPAs to qualify for 50% recognition of prior learning - reducing the units you need to study from 12 down to six. This will save you significant time and money and recognises your experience and contribution that you re already making to the profession. Designed with your busy lifestyle in mind, we offer you the ability to complete some of these MBA units in just six days, through Deakin s unique residential MBA classroom workshops, based in Geelong. This is a great way to start and finish a unit in a single week, and fast track your MBA completion. IPA Program Fees Stage 1 - Associate Pathway Designed for AIPA members, the current fee per unit is priced at $1,220 and you may be eligible to claim the tuition fees as a work-related self-education expense on your tax return. This first stage of the IPA Program is not eligible for FEE-HELP. Stage 2 - MBA Degree The tuition fee for Stage 2 is $4,215 per subject for 2018 enrolments. If you are a full fee student, you may be eligible to claim the tuition fees as a work-related selfeducation expense on your tax return. This stage of the IPA Program is eligible for FEE-HELP, the Australian Government s loan program. Candidates must be Australian citizens to take advantage of this offer. How much can I borrow? You can borrow up to the FEE-HELP limit to pay your tuition fees. The FEE-HELP limit is the total amount available to you under the FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP/VET Student Loans schemes over your lifetime. In 2018, the general FEE-HELP limit is $102,392 for most students. The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year. Once you have reached the FEE-HELP limit, you can no longer use FEE-HELP to pay your tuition fees. Repaying my FEE-HELP Loan If you get a FEE-HELP loan, you will have a legal obligation to the Government to repay your debt. Your debt is repaid through the tax system once you earn over a certain amount. In the 2017 18 income year, you must make a compulsory repayment once your income is $55,874 or above. Your debt is indexed each year to maintain its real value. For more information on FEE-HELP, visit www.studyassist.gov.au. FEE-HELP FEE-HELP is a Government loan scheme that helps eligible higher education students enrolled in fee paying places pay their tuition fees. Am I eligible for a FEE-HELP Loan? To be eligible for FEE-HELP, ALL the requirements below must be met. You must: meet the citizenship* and residency* requirements, undertake study with an approved higher education provider listed on Study Assist at www.studyassist.gov.au, be enrolled in a fee paying place for an eligible unit of study by the census date, meet the tax file number (TFN)* requirements, read the FEE-HELP information booklet (available on studyassist.gov.au/studyassist), submit a valid Request for a FEE-HELP loan form for your unit(s) of study by the census date, and have not exceeded the FEE-HELP limit.* *Check the requirements in the booklet on the Study Assist Website.
How to Join the IPA Program To enrol in any unit of Stage 1 or Stage 2 of the IPA Program, you will need to complete the relevant enrolment form, available on publicaccountants.org.au/ipa-program/enrol. Once we ve received your enrolment, we ll send you a tax invoice detailing your payment and a confirmation for Stage 1 or MBA units.
