Work Experience During year 12 the school encourages you to do work experience which involves something you want to make a career of or at least helps push you in that direction. I myself want to go into musical theatre however finding work experience for that proved to be pretty hard, though through months of persisting and asking around I was finally put in touch with a casting agency called Boss Talent Management. The agency is run by Choreographer/Director, Gary Lloyd, and he contacted me saying they d be happy to have me as a runner for a client workshop they were holding for a week. The workshop was held in Dance Attic Studios in London and included the clients facing mock auditions including singing, script work, and dancing on which they then received feedback. As I will be auditioning for conservatoires this autumn I was able to note down feedback and apply it to my own work which was not only useful but pretty cool as it wasfrom very important people in the business. As Gary is a director in the acting world he then went on to offer me a week working at Thriller Live in the west end which I obviously graciously accepted. I was able to spend a week working alongside the performers in rehearsals and warmups and then during shows I worked backstage where the magic happens. I set up pyrotechnics with stage management, handed out microphones with sound, helped with quick changes in wardrobe, I even had my own sound desk with the pit and much more with departments such as lighting and wigs. I also experienced the excitement and amazing energy every night from the show and it was honestly incredible. It not only gave me an insight into what goes on in the West End but confirms that my aspirations are something I want to achieve. By Samantha Clarke 4

PRIDE DAY On Wednesday 19th September we will be celebrating our PRIDE day to launch a new ethos slogan. Passion for learning Respect Insight into others Diligence Enjoyment All students will be engaged in a variety of activities in House teams to develop these key areas. Photos to follow. Parking Our relationship with our neighbours and our reputation within the local community are extremely important to us. Unfortunately, we have had several complaints from local residents regarding poor parking decisions restricting access to properties at the end of the school day. Not only does this cause inconvenience to local residents and users of the community facilities, it also creates road safety issues for pedestrians and students leaving school. Please think before you park! Library News Hopefully all Year 7 s will have now been to visit the library and been given an Induction and library cards. If there is anyone who has not been given a card yet please come and see us at the desk and we will rectify that. We looking forward to seeing you in the library over the course of the school year. Please remember that we are always available to help if you have any enquiries, need some help with the PC s or not sure which book to read next.
