C. Description of what makes your school unique in the current market. Description of Charter School Uniqueness: Sculptor Charter School is an Official Core Knowledge School. To obtain that distinction, the school has gone through a rigorous process through the Core knowledge Foundation that identified Sculptor as having key practices (Curriculum and Philosophy, Planning and Communication, Resources and Support, Effective Teaching, Parent and Community, Leadership, Professional Growth and Continuous Improvement Practices) that qualify the School as a high-quality, successful Core Knowledge School. Sculptor has also been chosen to be a Visitation School, a school where others can come see/observe the Core Knowledge program implemented with excellence and fidelity. We have consistently been rated as an A school by the State of Florida. In addition, Sculptor is recognized by the State of Florida as a High Performing Charter School. Our Curriculum: A Coherent, Cumulative, and Content-Specific Curriculum The idea behind the Core Knowledge Sequence is simple and powerful: knowledge builds on knowledge. For the sake of academic excellence, greater fairness, and higher literacy, Core Knowledge provides a core curriculum that is coherent, cumulative, and content-specific in order to help children establish strong foundations of knowledge, grade by grade. If all of our children are to be fully educated and participate equally in civic life, then we must provide each of them with the shared body of knowledge that makes literacy and communication possible. This concept, central to the Core Knowledge Foundation s goal of excellence and equity in education, takes shape in the Sequence a pioneering attempt to outline the specific core of shared knowledge that all children should learn in American schools. The Core Knowledge Middle Years HONORS Program The HONORS program at Sculptor Charter School, an Official Core Knowledge School, provides middle school students with the opportunity to be academically challenged and enriched. While our internationally acclaimed Core Knowledge program provides all of our middle school students with the skills and content needed to be successful in today s ever changing world, our HONORS program goes even further. HONORS students participate in advanced level courses at a pace and level appropriate to their high ability levels. Within this program, students have the opportunity to take four high school level classes and receive high school credit while still here in middle school! Our high school classes are Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry 1 Honors, Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. Having the ability to offer two consecutive years of a foreign language is important, as this is one of the requirements for the Bright Futures Scholarship offered by the state of Florida, as well as an entrance requirement for many Updated - 2/01/2019 4

universities. While our Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science courses are not high school courses, the rigor of our Core Knowledge curriculum and the rapid pace in which material is covered, ensures our HONORS program students are well prepared for the most advanced high school and college level courses. Our students go on to participate in Honors programs in high school, as well as programs such as Cambridge, Advanced Placement (for college credit), and Dual Enrollment (for college credit). We are proud to be an Official Core Knowledge School and, more importantly, proud of the tremendous opportunities we provide our students. c. Acceptance of Application and Enrollment Strategies Describe your process for accepting applications and your enrollment strategies. Be sure to include: A.
