Kurrajong East PS Small Schools Athletics Champions A superb effort by all of our students at the Small Schools Carnival has led to so many of our students attending the District Athletics Carnival and it is with great pleasure and pride that I announce that Kurrajong East PS was the overall Small Schools Athletics champion school. SCHOOL PHOTOS Our school photographs will be taken on Monday 14 th August 2017. Should you wish to purchase photos please fill in the details on the envelope and return to the letterbox in the school office with payment no later than Friday 11 th August 2017. Student Absence It is a legal requirement that your child attends school every day unless an illness or another important matter prevents this. When your child is absent from school a note of explanation should be sent on the day your child returns. The note must indicate the specific reason for the absence. This information is required for Departmental records. Please notify the school if your child is going to be away from school for more than two days. No late returns can be accepted on the day. Please note that the school does not open these envelopes. They are given to the photographer on the day. Please ensure the correct money is enclosed as no change can be given. Please make all cheques payable to SCC. All students are required to have their own envelope. Basketball Reps 2017 Should you wish to have a family photo taken, please ask for a family photo envelope from the school office. Full winter uniform needs to be worn on this day. Has your child been away from school? Congratulations to Alex and Bradley after completing their basketball representative competition for 2017. Playing for the Hawkesbury Jets, in the Under 14's division, they both met some tough competition Sydney wide. Alex's team finishing 4th in a close semi final battle. Bradley's team finishing 1st, completing the season undefeated! Remember to send a note to school when your child returns explaining why they were away. Page 5

Stage 3 Great Aussie Bush Camp This year s Stage 3 camp will be held at The Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber from Monday 20th November to Wednesday 22nd November 2017 (Term 4 week 7). The Great Aussie Bush Camp is an outdoor recreation centre, providing students with fun, challenging and diverse outdoor educational activities. There are currently 8 small schools within the Hawkesbury attending this year s camp. Small Schools Camps are a wonderful opportunity for students to develop a broad range of skills, both educational and social, as well as build friendships with other students from across the Hawkesbury. Students will travel to and from the venue by air conditioned coach. All meals are included and a full itinerary and additional information will be sent home at a later date. The cost of the camp is $300.00 per student. Parents may pay in one lump sum if desired although we have scheduled payments as set out below. Payments will be required as follows: Hawkesbury Council Waste 2 Art Competition Hawkesbury City Council s Waste 2 Art Competition focused on the REUSE part of the 3Rs of the waste hierarchy (reuse, reduce, recycle) to specifically show how students can give waste a new purpose by transforming it into a creative piece of artwork. Through Waste 2 Art, Council hopes to encourage students to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. Students were invited to create either 2D or 3D artworks, which must be individual and unique, and made entirely of used or recycled materials. The creative works will be exhibited throughout Local Government Week, Monday, 31 July Sunday, 6 August 2017 at the Deerubbin Centre, Windsor At a ceremony to announce the winners held on Monday, 31 July 2017 Jamie and Arri were award the following: Jamie 1 st Stage 1 Arri Highly Commended Stage 1 Congratulation boys on your great creations!! We are asking our school community to donate items such as boxes of chocolates, wine, gift packs etc. If you know of any company that would like to donate a voucher or cash donation please contact Christine or Rosey or the school office No paper bag orders can be accepted after this date. The cut off to order lunches is 9.00am on the day of order. Follow the flyer and register by setting up your account and adding each child.
