Annual Report of NSS :: 2016-2017 The following were the activities done by our college NSS (Units I, II, III & IV) during the academic year 2016-17: Unit I : Prof. K. Mohan, Assistant Professor of Commerce and Coordinator Unit II : Dr. K. Pannirselvam, HOD of Tamil Unit III : Prof. K. Malar, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Unit IV : Prof. K. Saravanan, Assistant Professor of English Yoga day was celebrated on 22.06.2016. Thiru Paramasivam, Thiru G. Marimuthu, Thiru Mohankumar and Thiru Dhanasekaran from Sengunthar Nagar Manavala Kalai Mandram were given the speech on the importance of yoga and exeercies. In association with Sri Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Coimbatore, an awareness rally on Breast Cancer was conducted on 27.07.2016. The rally was inaugurate by our Principal Dr. R. Venkatachalam. This rally was started at Kalaignar Karunanithi Nagar Colony and ended at Sashtri Nagar through Lakshmi Garden. With the help of Reliance Vision Express Pvt. Ltd., Erode, Free Eye Checkup camp was conducted on 10.08.2016 and 11.08.2016 in our college premises. This camp was inaugurated by our beloved Secretary and Correspondent, Sathanai Semmal Thiru K.K. Balusamy in the presence of our Principal Dr. R. Venkatachalam. Around 600 students and our college students were benefited. In view of our National Chief Minister, Narendra Modi s Clean India Project, a 6-days camp for Clean India Project 2016 was conducted during the week from 12.08.2016 to 17.08.2016. It was inaugurated at 10.15 a.m. on 12.08.2016 by Thiru S. Kumaresan, Former President, Erode Sakthi Lions Club, in the presence of our Secretary and Correspondent, Sathanai Semmal Thiru K.K. Balusamy, presided by our President Thiru U.N. Murugesan, and facilitated by our Principal, Dr. R. Venkatachalam. Blood Donation Camp was organized and conducted by NSS (Units I, II, III & IV) in association with Erode Government Hospital and Lions Club of Erode Midtown on 15.09.2016. 300 students and volunteers were participated and 125 units of blood were donated to both Government Hospital and Lions Club of Erode Midtown. In view of birthday of Bharata Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, Youth Elation Day was celebrated on 15.10.2016. The following staff members were newly selected and appointed as NSS Programme Officers for the four units by the Selection Committee with the consent of the NSS Programme Coordinator, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, on 28.01.2017 and they were acted as s with effect from 01.02.2017 onwards. Unit II : Dr. K. Subramaniam, Assistant Professor of Commerce Unit III : Dr. R. Vanathi, Assistant Professor of Business Management Unit IV : Dr. M. Saravanakumar, Assistant Professor of Economics Our NSS (Units I, II, III & IV) and JCI Erode Green City local organization member of junior chamber jointly organized Integrity Day Celebrations on 02.02.2017. The focus of the programme is to impart moral values and principles among the students community. Our Principal Dr. R. Venkatachalam delivered a special address and initiated the oath taking. Integrity oath taking was done by 2800 students of our institution. All the NSS Program Officers co-ordinated the function. Our NSS (Units I, II, III & IV) and Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology & Research, Coimbatore, jointly organized Cancer and Breast Cancer Awareness Rally on 11.02.2017. Our Principal, Dr. R. Venkatachalam, initiated the rally and addressed the students gathering about the importance of awareness on Cancer and Breast Cancer. The rally started from the college premises, through Rangampalayam, Muthuampalayam (Housing Unit) and finished at Kalaignar Karunanithi Nagar, Erode. During the rally students distributed pamphlets to public and explained them about the need of cancer and breast cancer awareness. All the NSS Program Officers and hundreds of students actively participated in the rally. Our NSS (Units I, II, III & IV) and JCI Green City, Erode, jointly organized the Project of Removing Prosopis Juliflora (rpik funtykuk;) trees in the college premises. It was identified that near 40 trees were in the campus. The existing Prosopis Juliflora trees were removed by our NSS Volunteers with help of JCB machine between 22.02.2017 and 24.02.2017. The NSS Program Officers ensured that the campus is free from Prosopis Juliflora. The aim of eliminating these trees would prevent drought and ensure green environment in the college campus. Both the NSS Program Officers and the NSS Volunteers actively look part in this project. Our College NSS (Units I, II, III, & IV) organized a special camp at Kuttipalayam Village, Bhavani Taluk, Erode District, from 01.03.2017 to 07.03.2017. About 200 Students involved in this special camp jointly organized with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. All the students were assembled at the college premises at 10.00 a.m. on 01.03.2017 and they were taken to camp spot by college bus. The inaugural session was well organized in Sree Angalaparmeshwari Kalaiyarangam, Kuttipalayam. Our College President, Thiru U. N. Murugesan, presided the inaugural session and insisted about Big thinking will lead to great achievements, our Secretary and Correspondent, Sadanai Semmal Thiru K. K. Balusamy, delivered the special address and insisted that service to mankind is a great opportunity. Our College Vice-Presidents Thiru K.P. Mani and Thiru B.P. Manickam addressed the students and motivated to do welfare for the villages. Thiru. K. Kulandaivelu, President, Sri Angalaparmeshwari Temple, Kuttipalayam, and our College Principal, Dr. R. Venkatachalam stated that it is a great opportunity for the students to learn social life and understand society s expectation. All the Chief Guests were honoured with a shawl, NSS volunteer delivered Welcome Address and Vote of Thanks. The function went on well.

On the 2nd day, 02.03.2017, Primary and Elementary School Campuses, Temple Campus, Pavadi, and Road towards Camp Spot were cleaned. The evening meeting commenced at 4:30 p.m. The focus of the meeting is to update the need & importance of Clean India. The Chief Guest Advocate Mr. Jotheeswaran, Erode, addressed the students about Clean India. He highlighted the power of students and their vision for serious change in society. He encouraged them to take measures and ask them to participate in social activities. Dr. K. Rajakarthikeyan, HOD of Corporate Secretaryship, EASC, encouraged students to ensure Clean India. Dr. L. Manivannan, Associate Professor of Corporate Secretaryship, EASC, insisted to create basic cleanliness in individual habits. Dr. N.B. Premkumar, HOD of Business Management, EASC, narrated story to convey Good Thoughts give Good Deeds. NSS Volunteers delivered Welcome Address and Vote of Thanks. All the Volunteers actively involved in the meeting. The activity of the 3rd day (03.03.2017) commenced with Yoga Class. Yoga Master, Thiru Jeganathan from Chittode taught the exercises for active working. He also addressed learning yoga in early stages will help to maintain strong and healthy mind and life too (6.30 a.m. to 7.45 a.m.). After Yoga, all the students were assigned field work and girls were instructed to distribute pamphlets of Breast Cancer Awareness. The field work was executed in the best way; all the trees (Juliflora) in general land were identified and eliminated by the students. Girls also were cleaned both the primary and elementary school premises. The evening meeting commenced at 4.30 p.m. The focus of the meeting was Digital India and Impact of Prosopis Juliflora. Mr. P. Karupasamy, Regional Marketing Officer, Regional Office, Indian Overseas Bank, Erode, gave an interactive address on Digital India and taught various applications. Students raised questions and cleared their doubts. Dr. P. Sivasubramanian, HOD of Commerce, EASC, detailed the impact of Prosopis Juliflora and encouraged students to obey parents. He cited various poets and their poetry that had great creativity. The Secretary of Sri Angalaparameswari Temple, Kuttipalayam, Thiru T. Marimuthu encouraged the students to involve wholeheartedly in such kind of NSS Special Camp for doing services to the public. NSS Volunteers arranged the programme. After dinner, NSS Volunteers shared and presented their opinion about the activities. They expressed that this NSS Special Camp gave a great experience and understanding about life. All the Volunteers actively participated in the meeting. The activity of 4th day (04.03.2017) started with yoga. The Yoga Master Thiru Jeganathan, taught various exercises to maintain spinal, eye and kidney. All the students listened interestedly and carefully the demonstration of yoga master and performed the same. After yoga session accordingly groups were assigned duties for pamphlet distribution and tree plantation. Three teams went Kuttipalayam and around the nearby villages West Kuttipalayam, Weavers Colony, Shanmugapuram and Goundanpudhur for distribution of pamphlets and invited the public for the Special Medical Camp consisting Free Childcare and Eye Checkup. Other teams actively participated in Tree Plantation and ensured about the maintenance of the same by the villagers. About 60 trees were planted. The saplings were sponsored by JCI Erode Green City. The Villagers thanked and promised to grow them safely. In the evening meeting, Dr. G. Ganeshamoorthy, HOD of Physics, EASC, addressed the students about Organic Farming and he pointed the scientific agriculturists, Thiru M.S. Swaminathan and Thiru Nammaazhvaar. He listed their contribution to mankind, and Thiru C. Thandavan, Treasurer, Sri Angalaparameswari Temple, Kuttipalayam, graced the function and addressed about the importance of cultivating organic agriculture and also about

tree plantation. All the NSS Students actively participated in the session. The Students from Fine Arts Club gave an entertainment programme, the students enjoyed them. In the regular meeting, the next day s schedule and feedback were observed. On 05.03.2017, the day started with prior arrangements for conducting free medical camp. A team of 10 members with doctors from Arasan Eye Hospital, Erode, and 5 members team from Dr. R.A.N.M. Hospital, Erode, arrived the camp premises. The NSS Volunteers received the elders and children who came for the medical camp. Dr. A. Vijayakumar, Dr. RANM Hospital, Erode, and Dr. Sunitha, Arasan Eye Hospital, Erode, addressed the gathering and advised the public to take essential care for good health. Our Principal Dr. R. Venkatachalam appreciated the NSS Volunteers and welcomed the public to get benefited in the camp. About 200 villagers got treatment and 8 patients prepared for surgery. After Lunch, the NSS Volunteers arranged for cultural fest and presented them before villagers. They sang cultural and traditional songs. All the NSS volunteers did their performance with creativity. All the villagers enjoyed the events given by NSS Volunteers Cultural Presentation and the students thanked. After dinner, regular reporting meeting went on and students were appreciated for their wonderful contribution. The 6th day s (06.03.2017) activity commenced with Plastic Awareness Rally. The NSS Volunteers prepared slogans, creating awareness about usage of plastic among the public. The Villagers eagerly watched the rally and shared the idea of plastic awareness. The rally commenced from the camp spot and covered Kuttipalayam, Weavers Colony, Goundanpudhur and Shanmugapuram. At 11.30 a.m., Dr. P. Gowthaman, JCI National Trainer and Assistant Professor in Electronics, EASC, gave a training session on Change Yourself for Public Speaking. All the NSS Volunteers had a thought provoking and useful tips to overcome stage fear. The evening session commenced by 3.00 p.m. Mr. Dhanavel, JCI HRD Trainer, Erode, handled vibrant session on Preparation of Good Content for Public Speaking. The participants were given chances to express themselves and it was a highly interactive session. The training session was followed by Special Address and felicitations by Dr. M. Venkatachalam, Controller of Examinations, Dr. R. Sankara Subramanian, Associate Professor of Computer Science, and Dr. S. Karthikeyan, Associate Professor of Mathematics. All of them encouraged the NSS Students and appreciated their service to Kuttipalayam villagers. After dinner, the NSS Students gave cultural fest. They performed entertaining dance and light music all of them enjoyed. The NSS s gave instructions for the students for valediction on the next day. The 7th day (07.03.2017) was started with highly busy schedule and the team leaders consciously packed all the materials. The students were asked to be ready by 8.00 a.m. A special pooja was offered in Sri Angalaparameswari Temple. All the volunteers rendered their prayers in the temple. At 10.30 a.m., the valediction of the special camp commenced. An NSS volunteer presented the Camp Report and the activities performed in all the 6 days. They also shared their feedback stating this camp taught them about the social life and understanding of human relations, service to mankind, and gave them happiness. The special invitees Dr. A. Palaniyappan, Principal, Dr. RANM Arts and Science College, Erode, Dr. K. Poopathi, Deputy Controller of Examinations, EASC, and our beloved Principal Dr. R. Venkatachalam congratulated the students involvement and appreciated the s for a well-organized camp. They all addressed that the special camp is a great success due to co-operation and coordination of students. NSS Programme Coordinator, Mr. S.

Muruganandham thanked the Management, Principal, s, Staff Members of EASC, Villagers, the gathering, and all others for their remarkable contribution. With a group picture and National Anthem, the camp ended.
