See below, check the website or look at the school calendar to see what s going on... What s happening at our Pre-Prep? Date: Tues 28th Feb Time: 8.45am Location: City School Hall Date: Weds 1st March Time: 8.45am Location: Madingley School Hall Reception Class Assembly Parents for each Reception class are invited to attend their child s class assembly to share in what the children have been doing in school. @SPFSchools 1

What s happening at our Pre-Prep? Date: Thurs 2nd March World Book Day All children will be dressing up as their favourite book character please bring your book with you. KS1 will also be having a collaboration day with their respective classes at Dame Bradbury s. Year One will all go to Dame Bradbury s while all Year Two will be at the City site. Everyone will be dressed up so get your costume ready! Date: Thurs 9th March Time: 2.15pm Year 1Madingley Location: Madingley School Hall Year One and Two Gym Displays Each KS1 class will be displaying their gymnastic talents to their parents in their yearly gymnastic display. What s happening at our Junior School? Date: Thurs 2nd March World Book Day Everyone is invited to dress up as a book character. A small donation for ICAN, our current charity, would be appreciated. Date: Thurs 2nd March IAPS Under 11 Netball Regional Tournament Taking place at Uppingham School Date: Tues 7th March Under 10 Netball Tournament Played at home Dates: Weds 8th March - 6A Weds 15th March 6 Alpha Nature Reserve Year 6 will be going on a trip to the Nature Reserve 3

What s happening at our Junior School? Date: Thursday 9th March Time: 6.30pm Movement Showcase Members of our Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 Gym Clubs will be participating in the Movement Showcase in the Senior School Hall. Please note that due to the number of Junior and Senior students involved, this event is open to their parents only. Date: Friday 10th March Competitions Year 5 and 6 Science Club members will be going to Dame Bradbury s for an exciting finale of the 2017 Science Investigative Competition. These pupils havebeen conducting research projects on the theme of Flight. After setting up their displays, they will be required to explain to the guest judge and visiting parents some key points and conclusions from their investigations. We wish the teams from both schools all the best as they decide how to tackle their projects! Date: Fri 10th March IAPS Under 11 Netball Finals At Basildon Sports Village 4

What s happening at our Junior School? Date: w/c 13th March Language Talks This is the title of our integrated learning project across all Junior School year groups. This will include special assemblies, an interactive French language show, a carousel of language workshops and a themed playground sale in aid of ICAN, our current charity. Date: w/c 20th March Space Week Week commencing 20th March marks Space Week, with tips to the National Space Centre and the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory for Year 6 Date: Tuesday 21st March Years 5 and 6 Date: Monday 27th March Years 3 and 4 Time: 5.00pm - 6.00pm Location: Junior School Hall Performers Platform Concerts Solo musicians have the opportunity to play in front of a friendly audience. Date: Sun 19th March Time: 10.00am - 3.00pm U11 National Rugby Finals On March 19 the U11 Rugby team will be travelling to Epsom, Surrey to compete in the National Schools Rugby Finals. Having qualified from the Midlands and North region, the boys will now compete against the best of the best from around the country. While at the Houses of Parliament, we will be taking a tour of the building as well as taking part in a workshop regarding how laws are made. This is a unique opportunity to see the inner workings of parliament, and to develop a deeper understanding of the complexity of law creation. @SPFSchools 11

What s happening at our Senior School? Date: Thurs 9th March Time: 6.30pm - 8.30pm Gymnastics and Dance Movement Showcase Our annual Gymnastics and Dance Movement Showcase is being held on Thursday 9th March at 6.30pm in the Senior School hall. The event will be a colourful and awe inspiring showcase which involves selected students from both the Junior and Senior School. Tickets are free but are limited to two per family in the first instance. Further details are available from the PE Department. Date: Sat 18th March James MacMillan s St Luke s Passion, St John s College Chapel The Senior School Chamber Choir will be taking part in a performance of this major modern choral work on Saturday 18th March. Date: Tues 14 March Time: 5.00pm Year 10 IGCSE Showcase Our Year 10 IGCSE Drama students will perform extracts from Girls Like That by Evan Placey after school on Tuesday 14 March. Parents, friends and students in Year 9 and above are welcome to come and watch the performance. There is no charge for this event but we would ask that you email drama@stephenperse.com to reserve a seat. NB: Please note that, due to the subject matter and some language content, this performance is only suitable for 13+. Date: Thurs 23rd March and Fri 24th March Time: 7.30pm - 10.00pm The Railway Children On Thursday 23 and Friday 24 March students in Years 8 & 9 will perform Mike Kenny s adaptation of this much loved classic story by E. Nesbit. When their father is suddenly, and unexpectedly, taken away, Bobby, Peter and Phyllis have to move with their mother from their comfortable Edwardian house in London to a much smaller cottage in the quiet village of Oakworth. Whilst things are not easy at first, they soon become accustomed to their new life, which turns out to be full of adventure; most of all they love the railway with the Green Dragon steam train. The play will also display some of the set created by Year 10 and 11 enrichment students and some props made in Year 9 Backstage Club. @SPFSchools 12

Date: Weds 8th March Time: 1.30pm 6.30pm Location: Gipsy Moth conference rooms, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, The Airport, Newmarket Road, Cambridge, CB5 8RX International Women s Day Aerospace Talks Alumna Anna Wills, who left SPF in 2003, has just started a new role as Recruitment Strategy Manager for Marshall Aerospace and Defence group. They are hosting some talks by amaing women in Aeropsace, as part of International Women s Day on 8th March including a female test pilot and offering tours of the site, which is usually off limits as a Military Site. This event will showcase the career journeys of three remarkable women in the fields of Project Management, Engineering and Aerospace, with speakers Eliabeth Payne, Engineering Director and Head of Design at B/E Aerospace, Tracey Lofts, Director of Programmes and Engineering at TMD Technologies Ltd, and Zoe Gell, Flight Test Head of Regulatory Compliance and Air Safety at Marshall ADG and former RAF Helicopter Pilot.
