METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PIKE TOWNSHIP The Board of Education of the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township met in a regular session on Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. at the Administrative Services Center. Present at the meeting were: Mrs. Richardson, Mr. Huffine, Mr. Abrams, Mr. Metzler, members; and Mr. Jones, Superintendent. Mrs. Randolph, Mr. Downs, and Mrs. Poore were absent. Mrs. Richardson, Vice President of the Board of Education, made an announcement regarding a delay in the start of the Board meeting. She mentioned, There must be a quorum (a minimum of four Board members present) before a meeting can begin. This is the first time that we have not had a quorum at the start of a School Board meeting. Just as she was making the announcement, Mr. Larry Metzler entered the Board Room. Mrs. Sarah Dorsey, Communications Officer presented the following information to the Board: Celebrated the Academic Top 30 from the Class of 2016 and inducted three amazing Pike grads into our Alumni Hall of Fame, as well as a wonderful Senior Honors Night. Hosted a Pinning Ceremony for our first class of graduates from our Certified Nursing Assistant class. 100% of our graduated, earning their CNA's, which gives those juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn a certification which requires some form of post-secondary nursing instruction. Hosted our annual district field day and our annual Academic Super Bowl. New Augusta South was featured on WFYI's No Limits for their work with the Food Rescue program. Eagle Creek Elementary School won the 2016 1st Place Gold National Math Pentathlon Team Trophy. Our PHS Women's Rugby Team defeated the defending state champs, North Central, and advanced to Semi-state. Our PHS Girls Track Team won its 3rd consecutive regional title and several of our athletes qualified for state. There were too many great times and personal bests to list them all, but Lynna Irby broke regional records in the 100 and 400, and Sandra Brown broke a regional record and is now ranked 13th in the nation in pole vaulting. Mr. Joe Lampert, Director of Human Resources recognized the 2016 Retirees. Contract Renewal 2nd renewal of 4 Fee increase of 2.7% based on the Bureau of Labor Statics food away from home Contract start date is July 1st, 2016 - June 30th, 2017 2. Annual Meal Price Increase Why do we have to complete an Annual Meal Increase?
Page 3 Regulations at 7 CFR 210.14(e) states that all SFA that charged less than $2.78 for paid lunches in SY 2015-16 are required to adjust their weighted average lunch price or add non-federal funds to the nonprofit school food service account. 3. Minutes of the regular meeting held on May 12, 2016 having been circulated among members of the Board of Education, Mr. Metzler moved: They be approved as written. Mr. Huffine seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The Superintendent recommended the Department of Human Resources Report be approved as presented and placed on file in the office of the Director of Human Resources. Board Member Items Mr. Huffine informed the Board that the Boys & Girls Rugby Team advanced to Semi-State; they will play this Saturday in Fishers, IN. Mr. Metzler asked if this is the second or third year that the girls have had a Rugby team. Mr. Huffine was unsure. In addition, Mr. Metzler stated, The boys Rugby team coach is a Pike graduate.
