Mission Statement: Glassford Hill Middle School is committed to providing a focused, intentional, and collaborative learning environment that promotes personal and academic growth, harmony, maturity, and self-discipline for all stakeholders. Vision Statement: Glassford Hill Middle School is a learning community that recognizes and values the uniqueness of each student. Success for students is dependent upon the collaborative work among faculty, staff, parents, and students, along with the support of the community. GHMS provides a safe, caring environment in which students and staff value growth, harmony, maturity, and self-discipline. The goal of all our staff is to provide students with a purpose as they focus on their present and future learning goals. We believe that all children can learn. We believe in a culture of high expectations and that high levels of support will create success for all. We believe all students deserve a rigorous, guaranteed, and viable curriculum. We believe effective teachers make the difference. We believe collaborative decisions are student-centered and data driven. We believe that continuous improvement is embedded in the learning system. We believe in highly effective and engaging professional development for all faculty and staff. At Glassford Hill Middle School we value and believe the Humboldt Unified School District mission which is, to provide a comprehensive, world-class education for all students. Principal s Message : Welcome! Welcome students and parents to the 2017-2018 school year! The staff and faculty are hard at work preparing for a wonderful year. We are so excited to welcome our new and returning students to the start of the school year on Monday, August 7. School begins daily at 7:35. Dismissal is at 2:30, with the exception of each Wednesday students are dismissed one hour early for staff professional development. In an effort to remain focused, intentional, and disciplined as our Mission and values state, we have narrowed our scope of training for the 2017-2018 school year to the following topics to help teachers and staff dig into the topics and gain depth of the subject areas. Eureka Math Training Curriculum pacing, scope, and sequence to Arizona State Standards for core content areas Connections English Language Arts Training AVID Strategies and WICOR Collaboration and analysis of student academic data within the professional learning communities Revising and reviewing the Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), which follows the Glassford Way and behavioral expectations for students Google G-Suite training for all certified personnel with the goal of Level 1 Google Certification by August 2018

Student Achievement : Glassford Hill Middle School AzMerit 2017 Highlights 7 th grade English/Language Arts percent passing increased 14 percentage points 7 th grade Math percent passing increased eight percentage points 8 th grade English/Language Arts percent passing increased 13 percentage points Algebra 1 percent passing increased to 70% Algebra 1 percent passing was 31 percentage points above the state average Student Opportunities : Honors level courses to offered in all four core content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Co-taught classes are taught in both English Language Arts and Mathematics Extended Resource Classrooms Arizona School for the Deaf and the Blind services on campus Response to Intervention opportunities for all four core content areas Daily enrichment period Parent Involvement : Monthly PTO Meetings Site Council Daily Volunteer Opportunities
