Schaumburg High School V.I.P. Issue 1 Newsletter for the SHS Very Interested Parents Message from the SHS V.I.P. Booster Club Hello All Very Interested Parents! We are really excited to have you as part of Schaumburg High School and are looking forward to a terrific 2018-2019 School Year. We would like to take a few moments to share what Schaumburg V.I.P. is all about and talk about how we would love to have you as an integral part of the program. This is our first 2018-2019 Newsletter, please read how the V.I.P. supports the SHS mission. Upcoming Events August 30 Parent Open House, 7 pm September 2 September Fest Food Stand 5 V.I.P. Check out the Saxon Store for V.I.P. - OUR MISSION: As the V.I.P., the Very Interested Parents, as volunteer parent booster club, our goal is to raise funds to support the Schaumburg High students and faculty to provide resources and opportunity to the SHS students. Our fundraising and volunteer efforts support student activities, a variety of clubs, athletics, diverse cultural events, and many other supportive opportunities to help the students of Schaumburg High School. You may recognize VIP running concessions at events, hosting the Craft Fair in the fall, Trivia Game Night in winter and Prom fashion show in spring. And VIP offers parents an opportunity to connect with fellow parents, contribute to supporting students at SHS through volunteering, and help build a support community for SHS. The programs that V.I.P. supports include Scholarships, SHS Mini-Grants to the School Clubs, concessions for the Dances and Sporting Programs, Spirit Wear, Prom Fashion Show, Post Prom Cruise, Fall Arts & Craft Fair, Blessings in a Backpack Food and many other key initiatives. SHS spirit wear! Membership: We already have 345 families signed up. We would like to get 100% sign up participation from families and our teachers. We thank you if you have already signed up. SHS V.I.P. at Septemberfest Going to Septemberfest? Stop at the Dining Tent on Monday, September 3, and support the V.I.P. We are partnering for Chick-Fil-A to serve chicken sandwiches, chips and beverages from 9 am to 9 pm. Over 100 crafters and vendors are slated to display for sale lovely, unique and interesting handmade items, such as crochet and needlework, holiday décor, baby clothing, bags and purses, jewelry, hair accessories, doll clothing, knit clothes, fine art, hand carved wood, candles, decorative glass, ornaments, wreaths, and much more. A variety of direct sales vendors also participate, providing opportunities for attendees to purchase specialty items. This year, we are also inviting vendors to showcase traditional Indian jewelry, handmade tops and design Heena (Tattoos). The Fair also features a bake sale to support our SHS band. Concession will be available for breakfast and lunch, and the Saxon Spirit Wear Store will be open for business. The Fall Arts & Craft Fair is presented by the SHS V.I.P. to raise funds to support programs at the school that benefits all students. Approximately 1,000 people attend each year. Scholarship Awards May 7, 2019 (2 volunteers) Volunteers and Leaders Needed We have several leadership and volunteer positions that are needed including: Legacy Pavers Prom Fashion Show planning volunteers first meeting will be at the end of September Post-Prom Boat Cruise Volunteers to staff the Saxon Store during school hours and at sporting events Trivia Game Night the venue at Seville has already been reserved; food to be decided Other fun activities being pursued include possible fund-raising events: Bowling Event with Silent Auction, Putt-Putt Family Golf outing, 5K run in spring, Test Drive event sponsored by a dealership We welcome your ideas and engagement in supporting our Students, Clubs and Community.
