School Values Happiness, Learning, Trust, Honesty, Respect, Communication, Teamwork. www.pentlandps.vic.edu.au/ Principals Desk 27/08/2018 Dear Parents, This week our Grade 5/6 students will spend 4 days on camp at the Grampians. We wish them all the best and hope they enjoy every moment of this wonderful experience. A huge thank you to the families who attended our Planks Evening conducted on August 21 st. This is our second Planks evening and again this event was well supported by families. Feedback has been very positive. Special thanks to Mr Wells for organising this event and our staff who attended. Last week we completed the concreting works in and around the timber shade structures beside the oval. In coming weeks we will commence landscaping works around this area. This week our students have come to school dressed as farmers. All money donated will be directed towards the farmers. Thanks to all of our students and families for your support. Recently we have had some families make comment on social media in relation to camps and excursions. At Pentland Primary School we have a policy where we attempt to have no more than 2 excursions/incursions/ camps per term. Camps and excursions are planned when our teachers are of the belief that such an experience will support student learning and is directly related to the theme students are studying. In the next few weeks we will commence our planning for the 2019 school year. This includes our school structure and recruitment of staff. If you know of families who have not yet enrolled at Pentland for 2019 please encourage them to do so. Last term we engaged a company to add some additional line markings and games to our playground. The weather has stalled the commencement of these works. We hope this project will be completed in coming weeks. I would like to remind families that the procedures remain in place in relation to late arrival to school, early dismissal of students and Parent Helpers and Visitors. The sign in books are located in the office. All visitors and Parent Helpers must sign in at the office. Students arriving late must sign in at the office and collect a late pass. Parents collecting their children early must sign the early dismissal book in the office. Please find a moment to check the list of important dates. We have a wide range of events planned already for this term. We continue to experience a lot of interest for Prep enrolments for 2019. Families are most welcome to complete the enrolment process now. This will assist with our planning for 2019 and secure a place in Prep for 2019. The schools within the Bacchus Marsh Cluster and within the South Western Region have agreed to a common enrolment date of the 31 st of August 2018. Have a great week. Andrew & Brianna. Principal ~ Mr. Andrew Harrison Ph: 5367 6080

GRADE 3/4 UPDATE This term the Grade 3/4 s have been enthusiastically learning all about Australia s place in the world in our unit Global Village. They have been researching about our closest neighbours and about our Indigenous communities. We have enjoyed visiting our kinder buddies and were super excited for the NED show that taught as all about never giving up, encouraging others and doing our best. This week we have also had the chance to participate in the Green Hats workshop constructing towers using planks. Some of them were taller than the teachers! Currently, we are lucky enough to be involved in Sporting Schools. 3/4D is learning all about hockey, while 2/3M are refining their netball skills. This program is ongoing for the next 2 weeks and we look forward to having a game at the end. Finally, just a reminder we need to be wearing full school uniform, including jumpers and black school shoes, and also recording a minimum 4 nights reading each week. Thank you!
