Westbury Primary School Newsletter 04-3 March 2015 From the Principal Last year we held two successful working bees at school which resulted in significant improvements to our school. Our next school working bee will be held on Saturday 21 March. There will be two major tasks on the day. Firstly to clear up two large trees on our boundary that will need to be fallen due to safety concerns. The second task is exterior painting in the quadrangle. A list of required equipment will be given out closer to the day, but in the meantime, please put Saturday 21 March in your diary. We are very appreciative of the support provided to the school by the Westbury Community Health Centre. It is only due to their support and funding that we can offer programs such as the bike recycling group and drum beat. I particularly want to thank Annette Barrett for her support and co-ordination. Our school has strong links with the Westbury Town Common and the local committee that is continuing to develop this area. Yesterday we had two classes attend the official unveiling of the new signage at the Common. This signage is educational in nature and seeks to inform visitors about the local flora and fauna. Our annual Athletics Carnival will be held next week on the school oval. The main day of events is Wednesday 11 March 9.15am -12.30pm and will involve all students kinder to grade 6. The long distance and field events will be held the day before on Tuesday 10 March from 1.30pm- 2.30pm and involve gr 3-6 students. Please encourage your child to wear the appropriate house colours on the day; Westfield - Green, Egmont - Blue. A copy of the program is included in today s newsletter. Marcus Cramp NEWSLETTER ITEMS If you have an item to submit for the newsletter, please forward to the office no later than Friday 3 pm.
