PRINCIPAL S REPORT Edition 35 15th November 2017 PFA Oaks Day Lunch A total of 40 parents attended last week s PFA Oaks Day lunch held at Georges Restaurant in Camberwell. It was a case of dress to impress and fascinators all around with high fashion on show from all who attended. Everyone had a wonderful day enjoying the great food, drinks and company. Sincere thanks to the PFA for once again organising this great day and the opportunity for parents to meet and socialise in a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you also to Michael McNeill for attending, which has become a tradition on the day. Apparently he is accepted into this event by wearing a pink fascinator. PFA Bake Sale We re looking forward to another fantastic bake sale this Friday afternoon. The homemade treats are being supplied by the Year 1 and 2 families and go on sale just prior to 3:30. Be quick on the day as it s always a case of first in best dressed! Twilight Market Tickets are now on sale for the Thermomix raffle that will be drawn at the twilight market. Information regarding this is contained in the newsletter. The PFA is looking forward to welcoming family, friends and all visitors to what promises to be a great night and an opportunity for all Greythorn families to support a major fundraising effort. Money raised will continue to be used to develop the school s buildings and grounds as well as specific resourcing. This year fundraising money has been used to purchase internal classroom blinds as well as develop areas in the grounds. With planning underway for the development of the old shed area near the oak tree, fundraising money has been earmarked to assist with the associated costs to complete the development works of this space. Resilience and 2018 Class Placements With Term 4 disappearing very quickly, now is a good time to start discussing with your child/children about their class placement in 2018. The teachers spend many, many hours ensuring that all students are placed appropriately and specific to individual needs. Children build resilience and other skills such as social competencies by their experiences in life. Building a positive attitude in your child/children in relation to the transition into a new class and looking forward to the new year can assist greatly in this process. Remembrance Day With Remembrance Day being last Saturday, we held a short commemoration ceremony on Friday. Our school captains, Veronique and Tom, read over the PA a short piece about the day as well as the poem, In Flanders Fields. The ceremony concluded with a minute s silence and the playing of The Last Post.
