When you re having a meal with an elderly person, chew slower. Spend time talking between bites. Enjoy the time with them AND LISTEN. Search for the wisdom that comes from experience. When you re standing in the grocery line with a cart full and someone comes up with just a couple of items, let them go in front of you. When it s cold and snowing out, scrape the windows of the cars beside you. While walking through the parking lot at the grocery store grab that stray cart and either bring it in with your or take it to the cart corral. You may save a person from a car dent or the cart gatherer a little work. Write a thank you note to someone who serves, like a teacher or a community leader or a first responder just because. Take that one person everyone avoids in the office to lunch and get to know them. Put the phone down. Don t text or receive texts when you are having a conversation with someone. Be present and focus on the person. Let them know that they are worth your full attention. When you get good service from someone in retail take the extra moment to tell their boss what a good job they did. Babysit for parents so they can have a kid-free night out. Compliment at least 3 people every day. Even when especially when it may be hard to do. You ll be surprised of Take baked goods to your local police station, school or firehouse and thank them for serving. the impact.
