Our new Kindergarten students are notso-new anymore and have well and truly settled into school life. All classes have been engaged in some fantastic learning and have been sharing their achievements with me on a daily basis. This term we have continued to sharpen our focus on writing in classrooms K-6. Below you will read a wonderful poem from Leo in 2W, whose descriptive language creates a very eerie image of dragons indeed. I look forward to working more closely on writing in classrooms next term when Ms Becker returns. DRAGON Dusk falls and something appears, sometimes Roaring, sometimes not. Pounding feet destroy Earth And rip up the turf, baring their mutant teeth and Gnawing bones, day to dusk. Dusk comes so shout Oh no! when dragons comes to haunt your worst Nightmares, that you have ever had in your life. By Leo 2W As we approach the Easter and ANZAC break, there are a number of special events to be aware of: Evacuation drill This week the whole school will take part in an emergency evacuation drill as part of our departmental Workplace Health and Safety compliance procedures. Students will be informed that it is a drill only. P & C meets at 7pm the 2nd of each month during school terms. mvpspandc@gmail.com

Students are to remain in summer uniform until further notice. Over the holidays, could all families please check the labelling of hats and lunch boxes. We will continue to work on taking greater responsibility for belongings in term two. Cross Country Due to wet weather last week, our school s Cross Country carnival was postponed until 27 April week 1 of term 2. Fingers crossed for a break in the rain. School ANZAC Commemoration On 26 April, 2017 the school leaders will host a commemorative assembly at 9:30am in the school hall. Parents are invited to join in the service. We are also on the lookout for a bugle, slouch hat and rosemary for symbolic use in the service. If you are able to assist, please contact Ms Katie Franko. Year 6 Canberra Excursion Early next term, our Year 6 students will head off on their big excursion to Canberra. Plans are underway to make this a very worthwhile and memorable experience for the students.
