acting PRINCIPAL NEWS Dear Families On Tuesday we were delighted to have a Cyber Safety evening for our families and the families from St. Mary s and St. Anthony s at our school. It was wonderful to see so many St. Gerard s families attending and to hear such positive feedback on the content of the evening. It was interesting to hear what apps and programs children are using on the internet and the dangers involved in these programs for our students, especially when many of these are for 13 years and older! There were three main messages shared on the evening, these were: children should not use the internet in their bedrooms and for parents to be able to see what children are engaging in on the internet, to constantly communicate with your child, and not to overreact if you find out that your child is doing something that concerns you. The PowerPoint from the evening will be available next week for any family wanting to look at it. Congratulations to all our wonderfully talented students who performed in our Mission Week Talent Quest. It was wonderful to see such confidence in our children as they performed in front of their fellow students and parents. Thank you to those parents who gave up time in their day to support their child and be apart of this fantastic annual event. Our St Gerard s Majella award recipients have been announced and next Wednesday they will represent St Gerards at the Mission Mass at St Patricks Cathedral in Melbourne. A form has gone home today asking if your child will be returning to St Gerards in 2019. Planning for staffing and classes in underway and this information is important in assisting with this process. Please return it to the front office as soon as possible. All families have received fee statements this week. There are many ways you can pay the school fees. These include direct debit, cash, credit card and eftpos. Please ensure you come in to speak to the Administration or myself regarding the payment of these fees. If you have any questions, queries or feedback please feel free to contact me. May God bless you all, Carol Stewart Acting Principal
