The last quarter is always the time of year that goes the quickest. Let us know if you need anything from us as a school to support you or your teenager! There will be added stress with the end of the school year coming, and many students trying to catch up or maintain those awesome GPA s, that we want to make sure that your son/daughter has some mental support as well. As always, our counselors are willing to lend a compassionate ear and my office is always open. Please make sure your teenager is seeking help should they need to de-stress. :) I want to thank you for entrusting us with educating your child and for choosing Desert View! One of the programs we have here at Desert View is Youth On Their Own (YOTO). It is a non-profit program that offers homeless youth or youth who do not live with their parent(s) financial support for attending school and making A s, B s and C s. The program is designed to help students stay in school and graduate. We currently serve approximately 37 students. They can also request clothing, food, help with school fees, bicycles, laptops, etc. It is a fabulous program and we are lucky to have their support for our students. If you know a student who might qualify, feel free to direct them to Judy Rubin in the counseling department Freshman Academy Freshman counselors are working with freshman students on Career Academy classes for next school year 2019-2020. Did you know in the middle of each tooth is a blood vessel? Our teeth and our heart share the same blood meaning the same bacteria that can lead to cavities in teeth can travel to the heart and cause a dangerous infection called endocarditis. How to Prevent tooth decay at home. Reduce the amount of sugar your child eats and drinks to keep bacteria from starting the decay process. Good oral hygiene, such as regular brushing in the morning and before going to sleep and flossing, are great ways to remove the acid made by the bacteria that causes decay.
