CURTIS BAPTIST SCHOOL Curtis Baptist School is a comprehensive, private Christian school enrolling 200 students in grades kindergarten through twelve. We also have a day care/preschool, which has an additional 140 students attending. Community Curtis Baptist School is located in Augusta, Georgia (population 195,844). The area is home to Augusta University, the state s only public health sciences graduate university; and Fort Gordon, a large military base, including the Army s Cyber Command. There are a number of companies that have headquarters, factories, or distribution centers in the Augusta area. Augusta, Georgia is also home to the first major golf tournament of each golf season The Masters. The Learning Place at Curtis Baptist School consists of classes for students in grades 3-12 that have a specific learning disability and would benefit from a smaller class setting specific to the learning style of each student. Curtis Baptist School is a participating private school in the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship. Community Service At CBS we encourage our students to reach out into the community. Community Service Projects are incorporated into Bible Class at all levels of the school. Our High School students earn increasing amounts of community service hours each of their four years. Community Service hours are a requirement for graduation for CBS. Rank In Class Class ranking will be based on a cumulative grade point average in core courses (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language) on a weighted 4.0 scale. Core courses will receive the following weights on a 4.0 scale: Add 1.0 weight to Advanced Placement courses. Add 1.0 weight to Dual Enrollment core courses. Add.5 weight to Honors courses. Academic Program All academic courses are college preparatory. Honors & Advanced Placement Placement is determined by teacher recommendation, grades and standardized test scores.
