Saturday, December 12, 2015, 11:00am 2:00 pm ALL NHS members are required to meet in the Corona del Sol cafeteria to make blankets for Project Linus. Each member needs to bring 2 fleece blankets to make. There will be a sign-in and sign-out sheet. In 14-15, CdS NHS made 300 blankets to donate to Project Linus. NEWS FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE Anyone who is interested in signing up for a free SAT Diagnostic Test with Sylvan Learning Center should pick up a flyer in the Guidance Office. Cap and Gown info SENIORS: The deadline to order your cap and gown for graduation is DECEMBER 1 st. Jostens will be on campus on Thursday, Dec 3 rd for one day only to pick up completed packets. If you do not have a packet already, please do your order ONLINE at Jostens.com by Dec 1 st. You can t walk if you don t have a cap and gown!!! ACE Program The Maricopa Community Colleges Achieving a College Education (ACE) Program is a two-year, scholarship-based, early outreach and college preparation program designed to increase the number of students that graduate from high school, matriculate to college and earn a degree or certificate. Students are selected at the end of 10th grade and start the ACE program during the summer between the 10th and 11th grades. If a student is selected for the ACE program, a scholarship is provided to cover tuition for up to 24 college credits. Students and parents are responsible for purchasing textbooks and providing transportation. Students enrolled in the ACE program will take two classes during the summer semester and one course on Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters of their junior and senior year. To be eligible, students must be a high school sophomore and meet one of the following: first-generation college bound, evidence of singleparent home, works 10-30 hours per week, underrepresented group, teen parent, foster care or lives in temporary housing. The ACE application is available in the Guidance Office and the deadline to apply is Thursday, December 3rd. Angel Tree Angels The Angel Tree will be in the CdS Front Office starting on Tuesday, Dec. 1 st. You may choose an Angel for you to choose and go shopping for a TUHSD student s wish list. REMEMBER, the gifts are due to Pam Kane in the Guidance office by Tuesday, December 8th. Please place the gifts you purchased in a bag, with the Angel Tag attached and return back to the front office at Corona.
