UNFINISHED BUSINESS REMARKS FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMITEE NEW BUSINESS A. MASC Update (Enclosure No 6.) The Berkshire County Education Task Force, an advisory group of school committee members, school administrators and town administrators representing 90% of school districts county-wide, have developed a "white paper" that serves as the foundation from which work of the group moves forward. The drivers of the work are historical, current and projected trends of declining student enrollments in much of the county and the nearly stagnant levels of local and state financial support that risk the sustainability of a quality education offering to our youth in the our school districts. The white paper outlines the goals, the need to increase awareness and 6
engagement of the many groups of stakeholders, and the recommendations of specific actions. The advisory group seeks feedback of their anticipated work, goals and recommendations as outlined within the white paper, and asks for support of the effort. EXECUTIVE SESSION A. Minutes of 01 September 2015 The Committee will enter into Executive Session to conduct collective bargaining sessions or contract negations with the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (Teacher Assistants) and will reconvene in Open Session.
