Introduction of the Director of Student Support Services and approval of contract Dr. Malkas introduced Thomas Simon as the Director of Student Support Services. Dr. Malkas gave a brief outline of Mr. Simon s background and experience and then Mr. Simon addressed the Committee. Dr. Malkas informed the Committee that she has instituted performance ratings for salary increases for administrators.

- 5 - Heather Boulger inquired about the change in the title of the position from Administrator of Special Education to Director of Student Support Services and Dr. Malkas explained that the scope of the job was larger necessitating the change. Dr. Malkas informed the Committee that she is recommending a salary of $90,000 which represents a decrease from Mr. Simon s predecessor s salary but is commensurate with experience. It was MOVED by Hockridge, SECONDED by Moulton to appoint Thomas Simon as Director of Student Support Services with an annual salary of $90,000. VOTE ON THE MOTION Ayes 5 Appt. of Dir. of Student Support Services 5962 C. Introduction of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Dr. Malkas introduced Dr. Kimberly Roberts-Morandi as the district s newly hired Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Dr. Malkas gave a brief outline of Dr. Roberts-Morandi s background and experience and then Dr. Roberts-Morandi addressed the Committee. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was no unfinished business to be heard. REMARKS FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMITTEE Heather Boulger informed the Committee that the North Adams Public Schools summer science camp is in session and Noella Carlow and her dedicated staff at Brayton Elementary School are servicing 300 students five days a week, seven hours a day for four weeks. The students are having a great experience and there is a lot of hands on learning. John Franzoni added that the MIT team would be coming tomorrow to observe the camp. Heather Boulger congratulated the Drury band for their participation in the 4 th of July Parade in Washington, DC. Fifty Drury students traveled to Washington for the parade. Chairperson Alcombright inquired about the Colegrove Park Program. John Franzoni reported that Drury and Brayton are partnering on a mentoring program and on August 16 th twenty students will go to Ramblwild. This program is designed so the younger students can be mentored by the older students.

- 6 - Mark Moulton informed the Committee that next Saturday the North Adams Little League will be hosting a movie night at Fallon Field. Sand Lot will be shown and there will be activities for children from 5:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. Children may attend regardless of whether or not they played little league. EXECUTIVE SESSION Chairperson Alcombright stated that the Committee would enter into Executive Session to conduct collective bargaining sessions or contract negotiations with nonunion personnel, Nancy Ziter, Business Manager; and to conduct collective bargaining or contract negotiations with the North Adams Teachers Association; and to collective bargaining or contract negotiations with the North Adams Paraprofessional Association and will reconvene in open session. MOVED by Moulton, SECONDED by Boulger to enter into executive session to discuss collective bargaining.
