State Meritorious Teacher award this year instituted by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. Academic Pursuits Dr. K.Bhagya Lakshmi, Incharge of Chemistry department has been awarded with Ph.D., Mr.B. Narendranath, lecturer in Chemistry, Smt. D. Vijaya sree, lecturer in Physics have qualified the SLET in their respective Subjects. JKC State Meritorious Teacher award The record achievement of our Jawahar Knowledge Center, in providing employment to 112 students at various MNC s for this academic year. JKC has conducted Mega Job Drive for all Degree Students on 21.12.2012 and Companies like Mahindra Finance, Hinduja Global Solutions, Eureka Forbes have participated. National Seminars Dept. of Chemistry Organized U.G.C Sponsored National Seminar on Impact of Pesticides and Persistent Organic Pollutants on environment and Sustainability of the environment during this academic year. Exhibitions Exhibitions on Medicinal Plants, Life & works of Ramanujan, Tourism are organized by Botany, Mathematics, Statistics and Tourism Departments. All the members of our Faculty have attended, participated, submitted Research Papers in international, National and State level academic Seminars & Workshops. Study Tours More than 12 study tours, industrial tours and field trips to Various places relevant to their respective Subjects have undertaken by the departments of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Statistics, Tourism, Economics, Sociology and Commerce. Mathematics Exhibition under DRC (as student oriented activity) Projects Dr.S.Mutta Reddy, Lecturer in Chemistry and Dr.T. Rajarajeswari lecturer in Chemsitry have been awarded with minor research projects from U.G.C funding this year. Cultural Our College has Organized District level Youth Festival under the guidance of Sri.K.V.S.Durga Prasad, lecturer in Botany External Examinations Dr.T.D.Vimala, lecturer in Psychology and Sri.Ch. and Sri.K.Narendranath, lecturer in Chemsitry and Convener of Cultural Committee of the College. College has received the State level Award and Won many State Awards. UGC UGC career council cell organized two days workshop on Women Entrepreneurship for final year students in Sep, 2012. UGC Sponsored Rs.25, 000/- to the students of Botany and Zoology and Rs.30, 000/- to the students of Maths, Statistics, Chemistry and Computer Science towards Study Tour. Rs.1, 25,000/- was sanctioned for the Construction of Basket Ball Court in our college premises and Rs.2, 50,000/- was released for the sports equipment. Rs.15, 00,000/- was released for the Construction of Library building and the construction was completed. Rs. 6,75,000/- was released for the construction of additional class rooms in the existing PG Block and Rs. 2,50,000/- was released for the construction of ramps and toilets in the Library Premises. Awareness programs An awareness programme on RTI Act is conducted in the college with the support of Eenadu and Students Union. Dignitaries Many dignitaries including the district Majistrate & Collector Sri. Suresh Kumar, Joint Collector, Sarada Devi, M.L.C Sri. Lakshman Rao garu, Urban S.P. Sri.R.K.Ravi Krishna, Rural S.P. NSS The 2 N.S.S Units of Our College under the guidance of Dr. T.Rajarajeswari, lecturer in Chemistry and Sri.Sudhakar, lecturer in Economics, have organized many Programmes like 1K walk for Guinness book world record, blood grouping, rallies on aids day, etc. the Volunteers of N.S.S Unit got State Second Prize in Cultural Programmes(folk) organized on the occasion of Biodiversity Summit at Hyderabad by A.P. Prakrutimihta, Hyderabad. health, role of women in Society, antichild marriages, etc, training programmes on self defense, rallies and many other activities under the Co-ordinatorship of Smt. K.M.S. Sailaja Rani. General medical Checkup, Eye Checkup, Dental Checkup Blood Grouping, Sugar & B.P Checkup are organized by Sociology, Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, Zoology Departments and by Student Union and Women Empowerment Cells of the college. DRC NSS Student selected for State Republic Day Parade. N.C.C The NCC unit of our college has 50 cadets and they have attended various trainings & parades and Camps under the guidance of Dr.G.Padmini Devi, incharge of Home science department, The District Resource Center in our College Co-ordinated by Sri.Ch.Pulla Reddy, lecturer in Commerce Organized State level & Zonal Level ELF training Programs. Six days ELF Retraining Program was conducted from 10/09/2012 to 15/09/2012 Under DRC and JKC for English Lecturers of Zone III. WEC The Women empowerment Cell of our College has been very vibrant and Organized many Programmes like Awareness Programmes on Women s L A D Y O F H O P E G o v t. Certificate Courses& Workshops Many Certificate Courses are organized by Departments like Computer Science, Home science, Women development cell decorative items and cottage industry related activities. The idea behind this workshop is to make students aware of their own potentialities and talents. The lists of prepared items at the workshop are --- Pot painting Kanta work on sarees Glass painting Bag making on D.T.P, Soft toy making, self defense etc. Garlands making Purse making A Workshop on handicrafts for promotion of entrepreneurial skills is organized by Dept of Home Science. Guest Lectures For identification of inbuilt talents and for developing artistic bent of mind a three day workshop was organized from 21-8-12 to 23-8-12. In this workshop final year B.Sc. Home Science students were participated and were guided to identify various handicrafts of household More than 36 guest lecturers were arranged by all the departments in their respective subjects. Sports The combined efforts of the students and the Physical director brought many prizes in Sports and games for the College at inter-collegiate, District, University and at State levels. Scholarships This Year College has received an amount of Rs. 26, 34,379/- for the disbursement of Scholarships and an amount of Rs.21, 89,239/- is dispersed to students of S.C, S.T, B.C, E.B.C and Minorities Tranfers This year we have lecturers transferred from other Colleges. Smt. Bramaramba, lecturer in Political Science, S.Venkateswar Rao lecturer in Physics, Umamaheswara Rao, lecturer in Economics, Sri.S.V. Shekar Babu, lecturer in Chemistry and Sri.T.Koteswara Rao, Lecturer in Chemistry. Sri. Y. Venkateswara Rao, Lecturer in Economics was transferred to Y.A.Government College for Women, Chirala. In the administration too, there have been new members who joined this institution this year. Smt. D.Sushmita, Jr. assistant, Sri. K.Mani Kumar- class IV employee, Sri. D.Satish Babu- Typist, Sri. Promotions This Year College has produced three eminent Principals, Dr. L.Sasi Bala, Dr. T.D. Vimala, who are promoted as principals and posted to G.D.C, Chirala, G.D.C Ongole and G.D.C Kothagudem respectively. Sri. T. Vijaya Prasad- Record assistant, Sri.
