S.V.R.M COLLEGE, NAGARAM. GUNTUR (DIST) AP (ACCREDITED BY NAAC WITH GRADE) YEAR OF REPORT: 2009-10 Part A: A. Plan of action chalked out at the beginning of the Academic Year. What is the plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and what is the outcome by the end of the year 1. All the members of IQAC met on 20-06-2009 to chalk out the plan of action for the academic year for quality enhancement. Number of co curricular and extracurricular activities were planned to undertake during the Academic Year To inculcate research culture among the students, it is planned to motivate more number of PG students to undertake different study projects. It is also planned to strengthen the infrastructure facilities available. In order to enhance values among student community, it is planned to conduct value based programmes. In order to encourage research culture, the staff members are encouraged to apply for research projects to a) Indian council of social science and Research, New Delhi. b) Department of science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi c) UGC New Delhi. Number of extension activities and community oriented programmes were planned to undertake by involving NSS volunteers & NCC cadets.

As part of student support, information services were planned to strengthen whereby the students are given first hand information on curriculum, syllabus, mode of examination, different formats of the affiliated University. Planned to bring out new innovations in curriculum. To organize departmental tours etc, to provide firsthand knowledge to the students of P.G and U.G Decided to apply for more number of seminars to the UGC in this Academic Year in various departments. It is planned to apply for merged schemes of the UGC It is also planned to apply for another two or three P.G. courses to A.P Higher Education council in this year. Out come at the end of the year The outcome at the end of the year was discussed with lecturer in charge of all departments in the last week of March, 2010 and the following are the conclusion arrived at. As per the action plan the innovative teaching learning methods prepared by faculty and students were successfully implemented. As per the schedule the curricular and co curricular activities were under taken With the guidance of staff members, students from each and every class submitted five study projects in their subjects. Apart from curricular activities education on value orientation has been taken up by conducting lectures and seminars. Community oriented activities to the fullest extent possible were undertaken by National Service Scheme Volunteers & NCC cadets.

Six national seminars were conducted in various fields. Women s Hostel Block II was started and with in short time it will be completed M.Sc Analytical Chemistry and M. Sc Biotechnology course permission received and they will be started 2010-11 batch onwards Part B: 1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution Students belonging to below poverty line cannot afford education in corporate colleges. Hence this institution caters to the needs of students belonging to all vulnerable categories of the society by charging moderate fees. Students belong to SC/ST/BC and listed minorities who are below the poverty line are provided with financial aid by way of scholarships and fee exempting. In respect of other caste students belonging to poor and meritorious sectors, the college welfare committee takes care of them by way of paying the fee and providing books and accommodate as free hosteller in the college managed hostel 2. 3. As this an affiliated college the system which is in vogue doesn t permit to Innovations in curricular design and transactions undertake any innovation in curricular design. The curricular design will be done by the University. However some innovative teaching learning methods are identified and these are put into practice by the faculty to the best of their ability. 4. Inter-disciplinary programmes cannot be started as the college has following Interdisciplinary programmes started the curriculum and syllabus of affiliated university. However efforts are being made to impart teaching in inter disciplinary related subjects wherever possible. For example Indian Heritage and culture and science civilization are the foundation subjects at first year UG level, and environmental Studies is the foundation subject at Second year UG level. 5. Examination reforms implemented in this college relates to the strengthening Examination reforms implemented of home examinations conducted in this institution which includes formulation of year wise schedule of class tests, monthly tests, quarterly, half yearly, pre-final and model examinations. They are conducted under strict supervision of the faculty and marks obtained by the students are displayed on respective department notice boards and students who are below average are offered remedial coaching. Meritorious students in the internal examination are rewarded with prizes. Reference books in all subjects are made available in the library for the benefit of the students. 6.
