Thinking ahead: Post-Graduation What are your Options? College Vocational or Technical School Some of these jobs pay as well or better than a college education!! Military Enlistment Work Most jobs require some sort of training regardless of your plans after high school, channel your interests now! All Seniors will take the Work Keys test in the Spring this is a test that many employers are now requiring passing scores on!!

What should you do now to prepare for your future? Challenge yourself at your highest academic level and make good grades! Get involved at school and in the community by helping others. Investigate summer programs in the community and at universities. Get a job! Volunteer and join a CLUB! Make a plan for your future! Start building/creating your resume J

GPA Grade Point Average All of the grades you have earned up to this point averaged together Simple math averaging J it s in the name! General: A = 4 B = 3 C = 2 D = 1 F = 0 Honors: +0.5 A = 4.5 B = 3.5 C = 2.5 D = 1.5 F = 0 AP/IB: + 0.5 automatically; +1 if you take the AP exam!! A = 4.5; 5 B = 3.5; 4 C = 2.5; 3 D = 1.5; 2 F = 0

ACT and SAT Scores Most college admissions and scholarships have deadlines in December of Senior year so make sure you are taking the ACT or SAT early and multiple times!! These scores are just as important as GPAs, because they factor into college admissions/scholarship decisions!!! Tutoring Offered to Juniors on campus for FREE in March-they are automatically signed up and it is state mandated Sophomores should take early on, especially if interested in Dual Enrollment Students who are on free/reduced lunch are eligible for ONE fee waiver per year Junior & Seniors only. Does not apply to late fees Can also be used as many times as you need for college application fee waivers!!! We have them in our office come by and get one!

Auburn University: 75 students said they were interested; 46 said it was first choice; entrance scores that year started at 24; only 31% of those 75 students had option of even getting in that year JUST based on ACT scores!!

Class of 2020 Rock the World!

Co-Op Students who have a job can leave campus 1-2 periods early and earn Career Tech Elective (CTE) credits at the same time! Juniors are eligible for 2 periods all year Seniors are eligible for 4 periods all year Sophomores and Freshmen are not eligible Must make weekly Tuesday appointments with Ms. Morris to turn in paycheck stubs to earn the grade for the course Must meet a minimum number of hours per week on students paycheck stub. Deadline to fill out paperwork is May 15 th!!! Come by and get paperwork from rm # 117 & 118

Early Graduation Students who wish to graduate early will need to complete their remaining requirements online via ACCESS Be cautious early graduation can negatively affect scholarship money (check with college of choice). Cannot participate in Spring sports Can still walk at graduation Can still attend Prom Green Early Exit form MUST be signed and returned to Mrs. Dombrowski next week! THE DEADLINE IS FRIDAY 3/16!!!

Dual Enrollment Earn college credit in high school classroom!! Free through Coastal Alabama Community College (formerly Faulkner) Textbook cost is student s responsibility 2.5 GPA required Students must maintain a C average in the course to remain in good standing and to earn college credit

Dual Enrollment Offerings: English Language 1 and 2 (ENG 101-102) Must meet minimum ACT requirements or pass the placement test JUNIORS World Literature 1 and 2 (ENG 271-272) Must have taken ENG 101 & 102 prior to SENIORS Introductory Spanish 1 (SPA 101) and Spanish 2 (SPA 102) 10 TH 12 TH GRADE US History 1 (HIS 201) SOPHOMORES (Standard History Credit will not count towards AP diploma) US History 2 (HIS 202) JUNIORS (Standard History Credit will not count towards AP diploma) Students must sign up for these courses on the regular course selection sheet that was given to them Students should indicate his/her alternate option in case he/she does not meet the placement requirements Ex. 1) Eng 101-102 (Alt. AP Eng) or Ex. 2) Eng 101-102 (Alt. Eng 11)
