Mount Kuring-gai Public School Leeming Street, Mount Kuring-gai NSW 2080 T (02) 9457 9088 F (02) 9457 8691 E-mail: mtkuringga-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au June 2018 Principal s Report Student Progress Reports On Tuesday you should have received your child s report for Semester One. This is an opportunity to celebrate their many successes in the classroom and commend them on their efforts. I commend the teachers for the many hours needed to compile these reports for each individual student in their class. Reports can be an anxious time for children and it is important that you take the time to discuss their reports and acknowledge their achievements. These progress reports are point in time of your child s academic achievement and certainly not the end of their journey. As always the first, and often best, person to contact is your child s teacher if you have any concerns. Dance Group Over the last two weeks the school s Dance Group have been performing at the Sydney North Dance Festival. Miss Cameron has done an outstanding job getting the children to a point where they have been producing quality, polished performances. Congratulations to all involved, the students should be very proud of their performances. Thankyou to all the parents who helped with costumes, makeup and transport. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the excellent performance today along with members of the school community. Black & White Disco On Friday 29 June the P&C had kids and parents dancing at the Black & White Disco. Fun was had by all. Thank you to the teachers, P&C and parent volunteers for their help and organising another very successful fundraiser. It was great to see so many students attending the disco and having a great time. Star of the Month Assembly Friday 27 July Star of the Month assembly will take place the first Friday back next term in the school hall at 9.30am. We look forward to The Dingoes running the assembly. Education Week Open Day Tuesday 7 August As part of Education Week, families are invited to attend the schools Open Day on Tuesday 7 August. Come and see for yourself the many and varied activities offered at Mt Kuring-gai Public School. The following is a timetable of activities for this day. 9:30 10:10am = Open classrooms for 2/3, 3/4, 4/5 & 5/6 10:10 10:50am = Open Classrooms for K, 1, 1/2 10:55am = Open Day assembly in the hall performances by the school s choir, bands and dance groups. At the conclusion of the assembly the Year 6 will be running a cake stall, selling cakes, tea and coffee. The library will also be open during lunch. Families are welcome to stay and enjoy some lunch with the children in the playground. End of term As another busy term comes to an end, I would like to take the opportunity to thank staff and students for their wonderful work that is happening in each and every classroom. Also, thank you to the parents who help and volunteer to make this a great community to be in. Have a safe break over the holiday period and enjoy the time you have with your family and friends. Teachers return to school on Monday 23 July and children return to school on Tuesday 24 July. Share Our Space program Mt Kuring-gai Public School will be one of 81 schools opening our gates again to the public in the school holidays. This is part of NSW Government Share Our Space Program. Our school grounds will be open from 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week from 9th 20th July 2018. Please take the opportunity to enjoy the school s facilities during the holiday vacation. There will be a guard onsite during these times to monitor the school.

Survey Results The recent survey that I sent out yielded some interesting results from the community. As you will see there is a feeling within the community to strengthen our current awards structure to promote greater levels of achievement. Matt Pinchbeck Principal
