Vacy Public School 21 March 2018 Term 1 Week 8 Newsletter Principal s Report This week has been a particularly busy one for me as I have been minding my 2 and 3 year old granddaughters whilst their mother and father welcomed another beautiful baby girl into the world. Along with trying to survive that experience at the age of 50, I have also been trying to stay on top of all of my commitments at school and this, as you probably understand, can be quite challenging at the best of times. I could not have got through though, without the assistance of the dedicated team that I work with. I hope that you as a school community all know how lucky you are to have such a loyal and professional group of people teaching and managing your school. It is a pleasure to work with them all and I, along with my family, thank them for the support they have given us during this past week. Last week our P & C met and a plan was made to purchase new playground equipment for the school. Along with the fundraising that is already in place for the year, we would like our school community (students, staff and parents) to all have an input into what we purchase. We have set a target of $30,000 some of which we have already saved, so that the equipment we buy is of high quality and purposeful for our students. The SRC is going to be working on a survey that will be presented to all of our students so that they can have an input into the decisions made within the school. As parents, we will be asking you too to have a say in the form of a survey that will be given via the Ipads at the Easter festivities next week or emailed out to families who are unable to attend on the day. This purchase is a lot of money and consultation with all stakeholders is imperative. We are also asking any parents who feel that they may be able to source some sponsorship money to let us know. I am happy to draft a letter that you can present to any company and provide any documentation that they need to fulfil their company s requirements. If you need more information about our project please contact Mrs Pereira at school. At the moment I am in the final stages of completing our 2018-2020 School Plan and our Annual School Report. These are due to the Director of Education by the end of the term and will then be entered onto our school website for you to view. Kind regards, Karen Fonti Relieving Principal Year 6 2018 proudly modelling their new shirts

Library News A couple of weeks ago Mrs McCabe and myself did a stocktake of our Fiction section of the library. We were able to have a good clean out and make space for new books. We will soon have a book stall to sell off our old books and the money raised will go towards purchasing new ones. Easter Celebrations We would like to invite everyone to attend our Easter celebrations on Thursday 29th March 2018. Celebrations will include our Easter Hat Parade, singing and our mega raffle. Younger siblings are invited to come and be part of the celebrations and take part in our hat parade. Please feel free to bring a hat for them to wear if they would like to. If they would like to complete a colouring-in for the colouring competition they can collect a picture from the office. We will begin our celebrations at 10.15am and conclude at 11.10am with our Hot Cross Bun Morning Tea. After recess families are invited to attend our Scripture Easter Service. Normal classes will resume after this. We look forward to seeing you all. A Few Reminders. Raffle tickets have been sent home along with order forms for morning tea. These are due back at school by 26th March. No orders can be taken after this date. Children will be making hats at school in the days leading up to the parade. If you could supply some decorations and a hat base by the 26th March for this it would be appreciated. We will have some back up materials for those students who can not bring any in. Keep those Easter eggs coming in so that we can have a huge raffle and raise money to put towards our new playground equipment. Eggs will be accepted until 26th March. We will also be looking for some helpers on this day to do some wrapping of prizes so if you can help out please see or contact Mrs Greaves. Fruit salad, yummy yummy. Check out these scrumptious fruit salad kebabs that some of our students made with Lisa last week in interest groups. FIA (fees in advance) Did you know that with our new system you can now pay for upcoming fees in advance. Eg. If there is an excursion coming up for $400 and you would like to pay $50 off each week you can make a payment online through our website by choosing the other tab under payment type, then in the description box type in Fees in Advance for camp. You can also send cash in with a note explaining what you would like us to put the money towards. Any questions call Mrs Buck or Mrs Pereira in the office. Our sparkling clean COLA area Last weekend we had our COLA professionally cleaned. Doesn t it look wonderful?
