How are credits earned inhigh school? Students earn credits each semester (2 semesters in a school year) Each semester is worth 30 credits /5 credits for each class (same 6 classes all year; August-May) 60 credits for each school year 1 st Qtr. 2 nd Qtr. A-G Requirements Courses that students must complete (with a grade of C or better) to be minimally eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU). How do I complete my Course Selection sheet? ALL 9th graders take 4 core classes: English, Math, Biology and PE. ALL Math courses require 8 th grade teacher signature. Advanced/Enhanced courses in English and Biology require 8 th grader teacher signature. Spanish 1 and French 1 require 8 th grade ELA teacher signature. If you plan to play a high school sport and would like to request 6 th period PE, select Competitive Athletics CORE 9 as your PE course. There is no guarantee that you will receive the course but you need to select it in order to be considered. Choose 2 electives from the 9 th grade Elective List. Choose 3 more electives from the 9 th grade elective list as your 3 Elective Alternates.

Please Note! Aeries Online Enrollment MUST be completed with all required documentation AND needs to be submitted to the Tracy High School Counseling Secretary by Nov. 30 th (Late Deadline). Student s course selection forms will not be accepted UNTIL the Aeries Online Enrollment and required documentation has been completed and submitted to the Tracy High School Counseling Secretary. How can my student get help?
Transitioning from middle school to high school can be challenging for some students and parents. Why? Classes are harder There are firm deadlines! Your student might earn their first B, C or lower Sports are a huge time commitment (academics come 1 st ) Your student might not be entirely truthful with you Friends become even more important Students might want even more time on social media and they will try to convince you it is all for a class
Course Selections Forms are due to the Counseling Secretary on DECEMBER 11 TH (Jefferson School District) by 3:30PM DECEMBER 12 TH (Feeder/Non-Feeder School) by 3:30PM.
