At Setu 2015 ended with a good note and New Year started with new challenges and new hope. In this quarter we have received lot of corporate volunteers who helped our students in grooming their personality and gaining practical knowledge. Hope you will enjoy reading. I would also like to inform you that to ensure you hear more frequently from us, the Setu newsletter shall now be on the stand every month. Jyotsana Srivatava Inside this issue: INTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES Interschool Activities 1 The students from Army PublicSchool Noidavisited our school on 5 th October. They came for an activity on child labour. They performed skit, dance and group discussion and interacted with our class 8 th to 10 th students. Mayoor School Noida students along with their teacher visited our school twice for English activities. They taught students of class VI about picture composition with the help of various pictures. In their next visit, they conducted story making activity with class VIII students. Students of both schools actively participated in these activities. Setu Students of class VIII along with Social Science teacher visited Sri Ram Millennium School Noida on 5 th December for history exhibition. Through this exhibition they came to know about historical places and events happened at those places. It added to their educational knowledge. Our Students from primary and middle section went to Mayoor School Noida to participate in their sports day on 12 th and 13 th of December. They energetically participated and showed their talent and grab 1 st and 2 nd prize in senior and junior category respectively in Relay Race. In the month of December SOF School Noida has invited our students from primary wing to participate in various competitions organised by them. Students participated in Hindi Recitation, Rangoli Making, Fabric Painting,Pencil Sketching and Maths Quiz. MohdAsif of class IV won third prize in Fabric Painting and second prize in sketching. Mayoor School has invited our students for Christmas carnival. Our students from pre primary wing performe dance there. They also enjoyed rides and lunch. School Activities In the month of October with the help of Child help line a workshop was conducted and teenage girls of Setu were given tips on personal hygiene and How to raise voice against wrong. A Workshop on Road Safety was conducted by the students of Setu for fellow students and their parents on 21 st Nov. The importance of Road Safety was communicated through a skit and discussion. To know the impact of the workshop feedback was taken from the parents. Students helped them in filling it. Page 2 Winter Edition
The Annual Setu Diwali Mela was organised on 7 th Nov in school premises. Like previous years, this year too it was a grand hit.it was organised For the students and nearby peoples,by the students along with teachers and staff.there were many stalls of games, food and Diwali material. Students learnt about the sense of responsibility and organising while participating in the event. This year Children Day cum Annual Function was celebrated on 14 th Nov. It began with lamp lightening by our chief guest Ms. Kusum Bhatt, Mr. Arun Agarwal, our trustee Mr. Ravi Kaul along with our Principal Mrs. Indira Kaul.The program started with Sarawati Vandana, followed by fashion show and various acts based on environment by our junior students. Senior students performed skits and a nukkadnatak.. It ended with award ceremony and speech by Mr. Arun Agarwal & our trustee Mr. Ravi Kaul. Master AtulExcellence award for year 2014-15 was given to Sushmita(Class X), Anisha(Class VI) and Priyanka(Class I) Corporate visits / Volunteering Employees from Samsung visitedour school on 19 th Oct. 2015 They interacted with our students and donated some stationery and notebooks. On 28 th October 2015 employees of MetLife came to our school. They interacted with our students and participated with them in T-shirt painting, Graffiti and paper bag making excercises. Painted T-shirts were then auctioned and purchased by the employees of Met Life. It was a great fun for both students as well as for volunteers. Setu marches Page 3
Our students along with 3 teachers and chief trustee were invited by Dell for their GO_GREEN campaign held at Hotel Leela on 4 th Nov. A joint activity of pot painting was organised for students and employees of DELL legal team from all over the world.after that our students performed a dance and conducted a fashion show. Mr T D Joshi and Com.DD Chopra two volunteers of our volunteers have been regularly conducting story telling sessions on Saturdays. The objective is to impart moral education in our students. On 23 rd December a puppet show based on Health & Hygiene was organised by Max India Foundation in our school premises. Students enjoyed the show very much and also learnt how to maintain healthy Hygiene. Karan Lalawat, employee of Octane, is a regular and dedicated volunteer of Setu.He visited our school and conducted sports activity for middle classes. He interacts with students and also motivates them to participate in such activities. During The Xmas Week employees of Nuclues Software visited Setu to celebrate Christmas and distributed gifts and refreshments to students.on 24 th December our students were invited by Dalmia Group, Delhi & Noida for Christmas celebration. Our students performed Christmas Carol there. They also gave gifts to our students. Our students performed Christmas Carol there. They also gave gifts to our students. Health Camp: An Eye Check camp was organised by ICICI Lombard on 11 th Dec. 144 students were examined by doctors. Students who had sight problems were referred for further check-up. Educational Trip: Mr. Atul Aggarwal, our advisor helped us in organising educational trips to National museum, Zoo,India Gate and Nehru planetarium in Delhi. He himself coordinated the trips. Children from class 7 th and class 6 th along with their class teachers went for the trips.. Page 4 Winter Edition
Road Safety Workshop: On 7 th Oct, Our teachers Vineeta with Shalini along with students of class 8 th went to India Habitat Centre Delhi to attend workshop on traffic management. Students were asked to share their ideas on managing traffic. Airtel Marathon: Setu staff participated in Airtel Half Marathon held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 29 th November all.the objective was to promote Road Safety. Annual Painting Competition On 3rd December, 8th Annual Setu Painting Competition was held at Mayoor School, Noida.A total of 25 different schools and NGO s participated in Painting competition. The theme was on Road safety and My Smart village. The yearly shield was awarded to Cambridge School, Noida and the 2 nd and 3 rd prizes went to BalBharati Public School, Noida and Om Foundation, Noida respectively. Prizes were also awarded in two categories-in category A (Class 5 to 7),Ananyafrom Ryan International School, Noida claimed the 1 st Prize, the 2 nd prize went to Namratafrom Bal Bharati Public School, Noida and the 3 rd prize went to Radhika from Bal Bharati Public School, Noida. Consolation prizes were given to Garima, from ApnaGhar, Noida and Alisha fromsaksham, Noida. In Category B (Class 8-9), 1 st prize went to Ankit Sen from Cambridge School, Noida, 2 nd prize went to Basundhra Jana from Bal Bharati Public School and 3 rd prize went to Devojeet Modak from Bal Bharati Public School, Noida. Consolation prizes were given to Nasir of SETU Siksha Jyoti Kendra, Noida and Laxmifrom Om Foundation, Noida. Paint For SETU: Students of Class I VIII of Mayoor School participated in Paint for Setu campaign for fund raising, for Setu students. Topics were Road safety and My Smart Village. IT Skill Center The 27 th batch of Digital Learning (Basic IT) & 12th Batch of TALLY successfully passed out and certificates had been given to students. Major Atul Mehta and Akshara Seth of HR PowerHouse conducted guest lecture and interacted with students. They discussed about various career options available and how to crack interviews. Students gain lot of knowledge and confidence after this session. Page 6
