BIRDVILLE ISD ATHLETIC NEWSLETTER.a note from the AD We had a swift and successful winter season in BISD Athletics! We had swimmers qualify for the UIL Regional Swim Meet as well as wrestlers. Haltom High and Birdville High enjoyed wrestlers that qualified for the UIL State Wrestling Meet. Congratulations to Coaches Gillespie and Hale and wrestlers for that extraordinary accomplishment. Our basketball teams enjoyed playoffs and congratulations to Coach Goldberg and team for advancing to the second round of the UIL playoffs. Our middle school basketball teams competed very well in the Big 12 season and district tournament. As a result, several championships evolved from the basketball season at every level. Spring is upon us and our teams are competing for titles towards the end of the year. Thanks to all for a great year and as this is my last greeting, I sincerely want to thank all coaches, athletic trainers, managers, and student athletes for making Birdville the best place to be!!! Please pass along how much it meant to the kids and to us! Thank you Julie Teel The Birdville Lady Hawks, along with help from the Richland Lady Rebels, raised over $2500 dollars during the 5 th Annual BISD Cancer Awareness Matches on Saturday, January 5 th, 2013.

BIRDVILLE HIGH SCHOOL Birdville High School girls basketball put on a basketball clinic for the basketball groups that play at North Richland Hills Baptist Church. This is the 2 nd year for them to be involved. After the clinic was over, Birdville girls brought their team posters for all the kids to have one and for our basketball kids to autograph. Birdville High School Tennis adopted a single Mom with three kids out of BISD. They purchased gifts for them with monies donated by tennis parents and students to make their holiday a little brighter! They also volunteered to work in a Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. Richland Football Team adopted four families as part of the Christmas Providers Program here in BISD. The boys and their families raised over $4,000 worth of clothes, food, toys, and gift cards for these families. Richland High School Baseball provided food for eight families for the week of Thanksgiving. The North Ridge Athletic Program adopted two families in our community this year for the holiday season. We called the community service "Wildcat Holiday Helpers". All athletes helped these two families in some way, by donating money, donating food items, making jewelry, smoking hams, wrapping gifts, and more. The wildcat athletic department raised over $800 for the two families, and collected over $300 worth of food items for each family. These families are going to have a Holiday celebration that is memorable due to our athletes' generosity and selflessness! HALTOM HIGH SCHOOL Haltom High School Baseball held a can food drive and collected over 200 cans for the Haltom City s NEED store.
