Rising Leaders Rise to the Occasion The Rising Leaders put "fun" in fundraising. Proceeds from their 1st Annual Summer Soiree helped raise money for a Leadership Fort Lauderdale scholarship. 2018 Salute to Business Honorees Broward businesses receiving high honors as Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce inducts champion of the community into its Hall of Fame. Broward Unemployment Dropping, Job Creation Climbing While Broward County's unemployment rate trends downward over the past year, the Fort Lauderdale region continues to be among the top five Florida metro areas for private sector-job growth. 4
Job Gains Across the Country, including the Sunshine State Thirty-two states had over-the-year increases in nonfarm payroll employment in June. The largest job gains occurred in Texas (+359,500), California (+269,100), and Florida (+170,500). 5
Median Prices for Florida Homes Continue to Rise Home sellers received more of their original asking price at the closing table. Sellers of existing single-family homes received 96.9 percent (median percentage) of their original listing price. 6

Chamber Chatter Adding Awards Congratulations to Water Taxi for the fifth consecutive year of receiving TripAdvisor s Hall of Fame Award and 2018 Certificate of Excellence for consistently high ratings from travelers. First of its Class Nova Southeastern University (NSU) celebrated the White Coat Ceremony for the official welcome for the charter class of 53 M.D. students, who are enrolled in the new Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD). This is the first MD program in Broward County. NSU made history as it welcomed approximately 300 incoming medical students in the nation s first combined White Coat Ceremony celebrating Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) candidates together.
