St. Francis School Newsletter 9th February 2018 Value of the month Caring & Friendship Dear Parents and Carers In our final week of the half term, the Fire Engine and firemen came to visit Year 1s. The children loved climbing inside the fire engine and learning about all the different types of equipment. They were inspired when talking and listening to the firefighters and had many questions to ask. A good time was had by all. In Year 5, it was time to think about money management as Metrobank came to run the first of three workshops. This week, the children learned about different banking terminology. In the next session, they will learn about saving. On Wednesday, we began to think about the coming season of Lent with a thoughtful Lenten Liturgy led by Miss Nash. The children have been writing their Lenten Promises on leaf shapes and these have been added to our Lenten Promise Tree. The children have focused on promises of thoughtful, small acts of kindness. After the holiday we will be adding the pink blossoms as the children carry out their promises. Please let us know when they do thoughtful things at home a note can be put into their School Planner to say if they are keeping their promise, and what they have done to carry out their promise. Interim Academic and Attitude to Learning Progress Report: As part of improving communication with you as parents, we are sending home today an Interim Progress Report for the children. At this point, we are trialling the report. Once we have analysed feedback and made any adjustments, we intend to send out the new report at the end of the Autumn and Spring Terms. Please do return the feedback form which is attached to the letter and report. Mufti Day today ends our half-term.
