Great Things Are Happening Here Registration dates set Registration dates have been set for the 2015-16 school year. No general school fees will be charged this year, although fees may be charged for activities such as band, driver education, clubs and yearbooks. School insurance will not be on sale during registration. What students new to a school must bring All students new to the district must complete a student information form and provide two proofs of residency. They are asked to bring report cards and any other available records from the school attended last year and will not be allowed to register without the following documents: Birth certificate - A copy of the legal long-form birth certificate is required. The hospital certificate of birth does not satisfy the requirements of the law. You can obtain a S.C. long form birth certificate 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the nearby regional offices in Rock Hill (803) 909-7300, Winnsboro (803) 635-6481 or Chesterfield (843) 623-2117. The search fee is $12, and the request must be made by a parent named on the birth certificate or a legal guardian. Please make sure to have a government or employer picture I.D. with you. To request a copy by mail, print the application form at http://www.scdhec.gov/vitalrecords/birthcertificates. Standard processing time is 2-4 weeks for a $12 non-refundable fee. Expedited service is $17. A South Carolina Certificate of Immunization An original certificate of immunization which states that the child has had four doses of any combination of DTP, DT, DTP-Hib, DTaP, Td or Tdap vaccine with at least one dose received on or after fourth birthday for kindergarten through ninth grade; three doses of DTP, DT, DTP-Hib, DTap, Td or Tdap vaccine with at least one dose received on or after fourth birthday for grades seven through twelve. three doses of any combination of oral or inactivated Polio vaccine with at least one dose received on or after fourth birthday, regardless of the number of previous doses; two doses of Rubeola (Measles) vaccine with both doses received on or after the first birthday and separated by at least one month; one dose of Rubella (German Measles) vaccine received on or after the first birthday; one dose of Mumps vaccine received on or after the first birthday; three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine; one dose of Varicella vaccine received on or after the first birthday or positive history of disease for all children admitted to kindergarten through twelfth grades; Minimum requirements may vary some for pre-kindergarten students. Immunization clinics will be offered July 28 and 30 and August 4-6 from 8:30-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Call the health department at 286-9948 to schedule appointments or for more details.

Copy of past month s power bill and tax receipt or rental lease agreement as proof of correct resident address. If living with relative: you need a vehicle property tax receipt with proof of insurance, a state-issued ID with current address and a notarized statement. If applicable, submit any custody orders for your student. If other than parent enrolling, provide proof of guardianship. State age requirements for school attendance For the 2015-16 school year, the state of South Carolina requires that each kindergarten student be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015, each first grade student be six years of age on or before September 1, 2015 and each four-year-old student must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2015. Where we have four-year-old programs Four-year-old programs will operate at Brooklyn Springs, Buford, Clinton, Erwin, Heath Springs, Kershaw, North and Southside Early Childhood Center. Parents may contact one of the schools or project coordinator LaVilla Brevard at Southside at 283-3915 for more information regarding applications for the four-year-old program. Transportation registration All students must be registered to ride a school bus for the 2015-16 school year. Parents can complete the registration form online and email to transportation@lcsdmail.net OR print it, complete it and mail to the Transportation Office, 300 S. Catawba St, Lancaster, SC 29720. Call 285-6009 with questions. Transportation for sixth- and ninth-grade orientation Sixth and ninth graders should attend orientation at their schools from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. August 14. Buses will run on scaled-down routes. If a student needs transportation on that day, please call (803) 285-6009 or email Donna.Faile@lcsdmail.net before August 8. Please provide student s name, assigned school, address and if the student will ride morning, afternoon or both. A.R. Rucker Middle Students new to the district should register 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday the week of August 3. Seventh & eighth graders will have open house from 4-6 p.m. August 12. Students will receive schedules and home-base assignments at this time. Sixth graders & their parents are invited to attend orientation at 5 p.m. August 13. A sixth-grade orientation for students will be held from 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Yearbooks will be on sale for $30 each during registration.

Andrew Jackson High Students are encouraged to finalize schedules prior to the beginning of school. During all registration days, guidance counselors will be available to register new students and consult with pre-registered students who wish to make schedule changes. Guidance counselors return to work on July 20 to begin registering new students. Please contact the office to set up an appointment. Students new to the district must provide previous school information, birth certificate, two proofs of residency and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Seniors will register 2-6 p.m., July 27. Juniors will register 2-6 p.m., July 28. Sophomores will register 2-6 p.m., July 29. Freshmen will register 2-6 p.m. July 30. Freshmen orientation will be 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Textbooks will be issued on the first day of school. Parking permits will be issued for $20 to 10-12 graders who have a valid driver s license and who have completed the National Safety Council s Alive at 25 driving awareness program. Any student having a financial obligation to the school will not be sold a parking permit or given a schedule. Parking spaces are limited and will be issued on a first-come basis. Each student who purchases a parking permit will have a specifically-assigned parking space. Students who do not purchase a parking permit will not be allowed to drive to school. All parking permits should be purchased before the first day of school. Fees will apply to students who registered for USCL classes No fee (paid for by the lottery tuition money); York Tech Medical Terminology $50; Drivers Education $50; Art $10; Piano keyboarding $35. Teacher Cadet $50. Yearbooks may be pre-ordered for $65. An extra $5 will be charged to have student s name on cover. Andrew Jackson Middle Students new to the district should register 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. August 6-7. Seventh & eighth graders will register from 9 a.m-noon and 2-7 p.m. August 6. Sixth graders & their parents are invited to attend orientation/open house from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 13. A sixth-grade orientation for students will be held from 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Yearbooks may be purchased for $40 each during registration.

Brooklyn Springs Elementary Only new students will need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30. Back-to-School/Open House for all students & parents will be 5-6 p.m. August 13. Students who attended last year received their teacher assignments in their last report card of the 2014-15 school year. Buford Elementary Only new students will need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 28. Back to School Open House for all students & parents will be 6-7 p.m. August 13. Parents and students in grades K-5 will meet their teacher and visit classrooms. Returning students will receive their teacher assignment in the mail. Buford High All students will be able to access their student portal where they can view their school schedule on August 6. Student portal information will be mailed home a week prior to August 6. Students who are new to the Buford area and did not attend Buford Middle need to enroll at Buford High s guidance office July 29-30. Juniors & seniors will register 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. August 3. They will be able to change schedules, pay for parking passes, pick up yearbooks and pay for other fees. Freshmen & sophomores will register 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. August 4. They will be able to change schedules, pay for parking passes, pick up yearbooks and pay for other fees. Freshmen orientation will be 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Fees: A $50 driver education and $10 art fee will be collected during registration. Parking permits will be required for all students who drive. Each student needs basic information from the vehicle registration card and a valid driver s license to purchase a permit. Permits will cost $20. Make all checks payable to Buford High. Students who owe money will not have access to their student portal and will need to come to the school during these times to pay their fees in order to view their schedule. During registration, students may change their schedule, purchase prom tickets (increased price after 10/31), pick up yearbooks and return or pay for textbooks. Buford Middle Students new to our school district or the Buford area schools should register on from 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. August 5-7. Sixth graders who attended Buford Elementary last year and live in Buford Attendance Zone do not need to register. Returning seventh & eighth graders may pick up homeroom assignments from 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. August 13.

Sixth graders will pick up homeroom schedules during sixth-grade orientation day August 14. Sixth-grade orientation will be held 8:15 a.m. - 1 p.m. August 14. Open House for grades 6-8 will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. August 27. Parents who want bus transportation for their students on Friday, should contact the school or Buford bus office no later than August 5. Clinton Elementary Only new students will need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 28. Returning students will receive their teacher assignment in the mail. Back-to-School Night/Open House will be 6-7 p.m. August 13 for parents and students to visit classrooms and meet their teachers. Discovery School Discovery School has already held registration. Open House will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. on August 16. Teacher Talk will be 2:30-3 p.m. on August 16. During Teacher Talk, all students will take part in a presentation of Rockin Through the Ages by the Columbia Marionette Theater at our amphitheater. EAGLE Program Orientation for new parents and students will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. August 20 at USCL s Bundy Auditorium. Open House for Indian Land and Harrisburg Elementary EAGLE students will be held at Indian Land Elementary 5-7 p.m. August 13. Open House for students and parents of all other elementary schools will be held 3-4 p.m. August 16 at Discovery School for all other EAGLE students. Erwin Elementary Only new students and those who did not provide proof of residency need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30. Returning students who provided proof of residency will receive their teacher assignments in the mail. Back-to-School Night/Open House drop-in will be held from 6-7 p.m. August 13. Parents and students will meet their teachers and visit classrooms. Harrisburg Elementary Only new students to our district and kindergartners need to register come by, beginning July 6, anytime 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Returning students will have their teacher assignments mailed to their homes at the beginning of August.

Back-to-School Night will be August 13 for students in Grades 1-5 and August 14 for kindergarten. Parents should refer to the teacher assignment letters for specific information on the Back-to-School Day. Parents and students will meet teachers, visit classrooms and receive a brief orientation. Heath Springs Elementary Only new students to our district and kindergartners need to register from 9 a.m.- noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30. Open House is 7-8 p.m. August 13. All students will receive teacher assignments during the open house. Indian Land Elementary Only new students to our school district & kindergarten students will need to register from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30. Returning students will have their teacher assignments mailed to their homes at the beginning of August. Back-to-School Night will be from 5-7 p.m. August 13 for students in grades K-5. Parents and students can meet teachers and visit classrooms. Indian Land High Seniors will register from 9-11:30 a.m. August 4. Juniors will register from 1-3:30 p.m. August 4. Sophomores will register from 9-11:30 a.m. August 6. Freshmen will register from 1-3:30 p.m. August 14. Schedules will be issued during registration. Class photos will be taken during registration for underclassmen. Yearbooks will be sold during registration. All fees including band & driver s ed & unpaid debts will be collected during registration. Any student with a financial obligation to the school will not be sold a parking permit until debts are cleared. To purchase a parking permit, students must have completed the Alive at 25 safe driving awareness program and will need a valid driver s license and a signed contract. Freshmen orientation will be 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. New students will need previous school s information, birth certificate, S.C. immunization record, two proofs of residency (one which must be a copy of property tax information or lease agreement) and be accompanied by parent/legal guardian. Indian Land Middle New students may register from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. August 3 or any other day Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.

Orientation night: Families will meet the administrators August 11 Sixth grade from 6-6:30 p.m.; seventh grade from 6:45-7:15 p.m.; eighth grade from 7:30-8 p.m. All families are welcome to tour the school following the meeting with the school administrators. Schedule pick-up for all grades 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. August 11. Yearbooks will be sold. Sixth-grade orientation will be 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Students who need bus transportation for orientation should contact the district transportation office at 285-6009. Open House will be held from 6-7 p.m. September 1. Kershaw Elementary Only new students will need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 28. Returning students will receive teacher assignments by mail. Open House will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. August 13 for parents and students to meet teachers and visit classes. Lancaster High Students new to Lancaster High should register immediately. The guidance office is open from 7 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Beginning August 3, the office will be open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m Monday-Friday. Students new to the district must provide previous school information, long form of birth certificate, proofs of residency and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All students must bring proofs of residency, such as power bill, water bill, rental agreement or mortgage receipt in their parent/guardian s name to registration. To purchase a parking permit, a student must successfully complete the Alive at 25 safe driving awareness program and have a valid driver s license and a vehicle registration. McDonald Green Elementary Only new students need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30 in the main office. Returning students will receive teacher assignments in the mail. Back-to-School/Open House will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. August 13 for students and parents to visit classrooms.

North Elementary Only new students need to register from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. July 30. Returning students not flagged as being out of area will receive their teacher assignment in the mail. Open House will be from 6-7 p.m. August 13. Parents and students will meet their teachers and visit classrooms. South Middle Sixth, seventh & eighth graders and students new to the district should register 9 a.m.-6 p.m. August 4. Sixth graders must bring a proof of residence such as a power bill, water bill, rental agreement, etc. in their parent/guardian s name to registration. Parent orientation for rising sixth graders will be held from 6-7 p.m. August 13 in the gym. Sixth-grade orientation for students will be held from 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. August 14. Southside Early Childhood Center Students should register for the 4-year-old program from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. any day through August 3. Testing will be held August 4 and 5. Adult Education All new and returning students may register Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays beginning at 8:30 a.m. Testing also begins at 8:30 a.m. Students interested in evening classes may register Mondays or Tuesdays beginning at 5 p.m. Fall classes begin August 24. No tuition for these programs.
