First XC Meet Complete Freshman Aidan Andriessen is approaching a short hill at the 2K mark of the race. The first cross country meet, Oakmont Invitational, was held last week. The 25 new runners experienced their first meet. Even though it s early in the season almost every returning runner posted a personal record on the 4000 Meter, 2.5 mile course. Sophomore Alex Anaya crossed the finish line almost 6 minutes faster than last year! All in all, a great start for the Matador harriers. The next meet is the Nike Invitational in Concord on Saturday, September 16 th. The Senior Year Your senior year will be another busy one! If needed, now is the time to register for any entrance exams you still need to take. This is also the time to secure your Letters of Recommendation. You should have narrowed down your list of top schools and should plan campus tours, where possible. Keep in mind you can also see virtual campus tours online. Search local and national financial aid sources and complete the FAFSA form which you can find at: fafsa.ed.gov. You should begin filling this out by October 1. Complete any early college applications. Be sure you have noted all college application deadlines relative to your schools of interest, including any early action deadlines. Submit all completed college applications by deadlines. Have test scores sent to the schools on your short list. Draft your essays and personal insight questions and start finalizing. Tip save copies of all the forms, documents, etc that you are sending out. Start practicing for school interviews. Check prospective schools received your materials. Compare any financial aid packages. Ensure final transcripts are sent to your chosen school. These requests are made through Naviance. BOOSTERS The Booster Club is a non-profit organization established to support the various extracurricular activities offered by Mira Loma to their students. In addition to supporting student activities, the Booster Club is committed to the beautification of Mira Loma through improvement and maintenance efforts. Additionally, The Booster Club has weekly Bingo in support of Mira Loma sports and clubs, your efforts raise over $12,000 annually for our programs through bingo worker volunteers, additionally Boosters supports and organizes our Safe and Sober Grad Night (overnight) Parties. The IB program has many needs beyond those of the typical high school program. The State of California and the San Juan Unified School District do not fully fund Mira Loma's IB program.
