Valen ne Public School Grapevine Term 1 Week 4 2018 Thursday 22nd February, 2018 From the Principal s desk What a wonderful special Leadership Assembly last Friday: proud parents badging, student leaders beaming, student audience inspired and a beautiful first rendition for the year of our school song. There were many hugs and wonderful family support for our students...thank you to the family members who were able to make it, your support means the world to your children and to the school. I would like to thank our community for the wonderful response to our communication/information sessions that have been held over the last week. We have held information sessions for each Grade/Class; PLP (Personal Learning Program goal setting for Aboriginal students); A welcome to new Families afternoon tea and ESES - Learning and Support for our funded special needs students. A lot of information and connecting going on.just want to say thanks for being there...it s a measure of the parenting in this beautiful village that there is such high attendance at these events. School photos are being held on Thursday 15th March. We have engaged with a new provider after evaluation of the service provided over many years previous. Discussions were held at executive, staff and community level and it was indeed the points presented by the P&C that determined that it was time to seek a new provider with the purpose of aiming for better quality and processes for your dollar spend. Envelopes went home yesterday form MSP Photography. Our school canteen is moving towards the Healthy Canteen Strategy guidelines that give precedent to all the time foods and sometimes foods over the old green, yellow and red food divisions. I would personally like to thank Tania and Kelly for the fine work that they do leading our Canteen and also thank the volunteers who will be making sure that our children are fed well each day...with kindness and a smile. Mrs McCarthy (parent) has been working really hard with our school on the Good for Kids, Good for Life Program and she says that our canteen is one of the best! What a brilliant launch of the R.E.A.L Project Based Learning in Stage 3 last week. The mystery box was opened and student engagement was very high as students learnt about their upcoming educative journey around Sugar and implications for a healthy lifestyle. Congrats to the Stage 3 team of teachers...inspirational stuff..had the Principal in tears! Mrs Lee Saurins Principal Weekly Positive Affirmation Our positive affirmation this week is: Our affirmations is: RESPECT I will persist at tasks and not give up. What s hot at Valentine! During Week 3, a mysterious chained box turned up just outside the school canteen with various notes left with it throughout the week. This box left everyone curious and extremely intrigued. Please leave it here and tell Miss Duck that when the bell rings at 25 past 9, she can open this envelope when you ve got into your lines. All will be revealed at the COLA assembly. This was all a part of the fun and exciting new project based around Sugar, for all VPS Stage 3 students. It is called Rigorous, Engaging, Authentic Learning (R.E.A.L) Sugar..It s not so sweet is it? More information will be shared at this week s assembly, so feel free to come along and see some photos and footage from the Project Launch Day. From the Stage 3 Team.
