February 14, 2019 SHAWE MEMORIAL JR./SR. HIGH SCHOOL 201 West State Street, Madison, IN 47250 812-273-2150 Fax: 812-273-2013 www.popeaceschools.org Office Announcements The BIG announcement today is WE WON!!!! A very special thank you to TCC, Verizon Authorized Retailer and all of YOU who voted so that WE could get a new faculty/staff lounge at PJ/Shawe. We are not sure how it will all come together but we are so very thankful for all that Sarah Williams and her team did to promote this and all that was done by everyone within our school community to get the word out to vote! We had people voting in Texas and people voting in Germany! As it was presented to us originally, our schools made it to the final 3 schools in the nation! We then finished with 17,000 votes! Second place had 9000! This is something we are so excited about and so very thankful for your efforts to make it happen! Thank you! Watch the Facebook live presentation at https://www.facebook.com/shawememorial/videos/756362358072677/

We also are asking for silent auction items. If you have something to donate, thank you! The yearbook staff will be placing our order with our publisher, Entourage Yearbooks, on the 1st day of March for the 2018/2019 Shawe Yearbook. With that date fast approaching, the last day for yearbook orders will be February 22. No new orders will be taken after this date. Curriculum News From Mrs. Fewell The Shawe 7th and 8th-grade students have just completed their second round of NWEA testing in math and reading. This is a test we give to these students to track their progress. Students will be given their test results and will be given time to discuss their areas of strength and how they can work through the areas that need improvement. If you have a 7th or 8th-grade student, ask them about what they learned about their progress in math and reading. Guidance Department Announcements Students in grades 7-11 will be working on course preferences for the 2019-2020 school year with Mrs. Miller next week. Information will be included in next week s Shawe Newsletter. Also, look for scheduling forms to come home with students next week. Parents of 8th Grade Students: 9th Grade Orientation will be Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 PM. There are exciting changes with graduation requirements for the Class of 2023 & beyond. We look forward to seeing you at this important meeting!
