The verb to like STATEMENTS Use the verb to like, when you talk about things that you enjoy doing: Subject + like + verb + -ing ໃຊ ເວ າເຖ ງກ ດຈະກາທ ມ ກ ເຮ ດ Example: I like playing football at weekends. She likes growing roses. They like watching TV.

Instead of the verb like, you can also use the following verbs: to enjoy to love to prefer Example: He likes running. He enjoys running. He loves running. He prefers running.

Subject + do not like + verb + -ing ໃຊ ເວ າເຖ ງກ ດຈະກາທ ບ ມ ກເຮ ດ Example: I do not (don t) like dancing She does not ( doesn t ) like playing the piano. Do/Does + subject + verb + -ing ໃຊ ເປ ນປະໂຫຍກຄາຖາມ Example: Do (we,you,they) like playing football? Yes,I do. Or No, I don t. Does (he/she) like playing the guitar? Yes, (he/she) does. Or No,(he/she) doesn t.

Jim, a university student from Australia is asking Khen about what Lao students do at their leisure. Jim: Khen: Jim: Khen: Jim: Khen: Jim: Khen: What do students in this school like doing at their leisure? Boys usually like playing football, girls like playing volleyball or Lao traditional dance. I see. They are not much different from students in Australia. They like sports such as football, tennis and sometimes play music. What do you do at your leisure, Khen? After class, I love playing football or I sometimes play piano in the afternoon. Oh me too! Football is my favourite sport, but I m not good at playing piano. We like doing the same things then! That s right; perhaps we can play football while I m staying in Laos. Sounds great, that s a very good idea.
