October 23, 2018 To: All Faculty & Staff From: Eric Smola Re: It Happened Last Night The Evergreen Local Board of Education met in regular session last night, Monday, October 22, 2018, at 7 p.m. There were 19 visitors present. Superintendent Eric Smola presented the following correspondence: Mr. Joe Zabowski: Notification of Resignation, effective 07/31/19 Ms. Danielle Boger: Notification of Resignation, effective 10/12/18 Ms. Sharon Purdy: Notification of Resignation, effective 10/26/18 Email from Mrs. Danett Setmire, Graphic Designing and Art Teacher commending Ben Saunders 9th Grade Graphic Design Student for receiving Second Place Recognition for his billboard design in the Distracted Driving Billboard Campaign sponsored by the Fulton County Health Department. He will receive $150. The following presentations were made: Mrs. Michelle Herr Athletic Booster President 2018-2019 Activities: Mrs. Herr informed the Board of Education of the Athletic Boosters desire to focus some of their resources to build a building to store Track equipment and improve the throwing areas for the shot put and discuss. Scott Hoffman Palmer Conservation Consulting Criteria Engineer Services: Mr. Hoffman explained the services his company is able to provide the district as our energy advocate should we pursue energy cost saving projects in the future. Mrs. Diane Tache, Curriculum Coordinator & OTES/OPES Coach, to presented Local Report Card information: Mrs. Tache explained the components of the State Report Card and our district s results to the Board, highlighting areas of progress and areas of ongoing focus. The Board conducted the following business: Treasurer s Report: Five-Year Forecast/Investment Report * Approved the September 2018 financial reports including the Cash Reconciliation, BALCHK report, financial summary reports (FINSUM and FINSUMM). * Approved the Five-Year Forecast to be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education by October 31, 2018 * Approved the following federal, state, and local grant fund allocations for FY19 and to amend resources and modify appropriations accordingly: FY19 NBHP Employee Wellness Initiative Grant (019-9038) - $2,600.00. FY19 SOS (Students for Other Students) Peer-Tutoring Grant (019-9039) - $7,500.00 Title III LEP (Limited English Proficiency) (551-9019) - $1,420.21 (consortium grant

administered through the ESC). 6B IDEA Restoration Grant FY19 (516-9029) - $14,547.98 Ohio School Safety Training Grant FY19 (499-9019) - $6,796.95 * Approved the following federal grant carryover amounts from FY18 to FY19, and to amend resources and modify appropriations accordingly: Increase 590-9019 Title II-A - $1,961.17 Increase 599-9019 Title IV-A - $3,949.22 Increase 516-9019 IDEA-B - $10,080.81 * Approved the following appropriation modification: Increase 001-1110-111-006-01 Reg. Salaries-Evg. Elem-1st - $56,913.00 * Approved program cost agreements for FY19 with ESC of Lake Erie West in the amounts of $9,345.23 for remedial specialists services, and $5,702.74 for speech services provided to Holy Trinity School. These costs will be paid from FY19 IDEA-B grant. * Approved the following fund-to-fund transfer: $3,270.86 from 300-7200-910 Athletic Dept. Transfers-Out to 300-5100-9532 Volleyball Sales Transfer-In. * Accepted the following donations: 1) $500.00 from the Fulton County Pork Producers to the Evergreen High School Family Consumer Science program. 2) $1,000.00 from the Fulton County Pork Producers to the Evergreen FFA (200-9210). 3) $5,346.72 from the Evergreen Mini Viking Parents (MVP) to the Evergreen Elementary Principals Activity Account (018-9221). 4) $700.00 from UAW Local 86 to Evergreen Local Schools (001-1820) for the benefit of needy students. * Approved a temporary increase of $1,000 (from $2,000 to $3,000) to the Athletic Change Fund for the duration of the 2018-19 football season. * Agreed to report fiscal year 2019 and fiscal year 2020 annual financial statements on the OCBOA (other comprehensive basis of accounting) basis in the GASB 34 format. * Approved an unpaid Family Medical Leave Act request for Katie Pierce, beginning on November 5, 2018 through December 21, 2018. * Accepted the resignation of Mr. Joe Zabowski, Middle School Principal of Evergreen Local Schools. Mr. Zabowski s resignation will become effective on July 31, 2019 Mr. Zabowski s professional leadership to the district and our students will be greatly missed. * Accepted the resignations of Ms. Danielle Boger and Ms. Sharon Purdy Special Education Teachers at Evergreen Local Schools. Ms. Bogers s effective resignation date was October 12, 2018 and Ms. Purdy s effective resignation date is October 26, 2018.

The Next Regular Board Meeting will be held on November 19, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Loren Pennington Learning Center.
