DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS COLUMBIA PREP SCHOOL Dear High School Athletes and Families, The following information is for students in grades 9-12 who plan to play a fall sport in 2016. Columbia Prep will compete in Coed Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer, Boys JV Soccer, Girls Varsity Volleyball, Girls JV Volleyball, and Girls Varsity Tennis. High School athletic teams begin practice at the end of August. The first day of practice for all fall teams will be MONDAY, AUGUST 22 nd. In order to participate on a team, athletes must attend the preseason practices. New York State athletic regulations require all athletes to meet the minimum requirement of practices prior to playing in a game. Complete fall team schedules will be posted on the website (athletics.cgps.org) as they become available. Please note: Athletes MUST have an annual physical to participate in athletics. Physicals are only valid for one calendar year. All required athletic forms (5 total) must be turned in on the first day of practice if they have not been previously submitted online. All forms to be completed by the parents are found on the athletic website (athletics.cgps.org) and include a travel and dismissal form, health update form, emergency contact form, student- athlete contract, and the athletic forms checklist. No athlete will be permitted to participate in preseason practices without these forms on file. Athletes should arrive prepared to practice on August 22 nd dressed to participate and with all necessary equipment for that sport. In addition, any teams practicing at Randall s Island will meet at Columbia Prep and be transported to and from practice.
