OGDENSBURG BOROUGH BOARD OF EDUCATION Minutes: April 10, 2018 Meeting The Regular Session of the Ogdensburg Board of Education is called to order at 6:31 p.m. in the Library of the Ogdensburg School, 100 Main Street, Ogdensburg, New Jersey, 07439. OPEN PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: Read by Ms. Corban "This is to advise the general public and to instruct that it be recorded in the Minutes that in compliance with Chapter 231 of the Public Laws of 1975, entitled the Open Public Meetings Act, Ogdensburg Board of Education, caused notice of this meeting to be posted at the Office of Ogdensburg Board of Education, mailed to the newspapers circulated in the district and to the Municipal Clerk of the Borough of Ogdensburg, and be posted at the Ogdensburg Elementary School and the school website, setting forth the time, date, and location of this meeting." The committee agreed to reject all bids for the bridge project, as they well-exceeded the budget for the project. Also reviewed the state application for the security bankers window that will be installed during the summer.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS Superintendent s Report: Thank Grand Master Kim for donating his time to train the staff on 3/28 Eco-Schools USA (National Wildlife Federation) There were no HIB s reported in March. Parent Advisory council will be meeting again soon, reviewed the projects that were completed during Spring Break. P/P 22 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, affirms the Superintendent s Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Report for March 2018 as presented on April 10, 2017; with Board options to affirm, reject or modify the report. P/P - 23 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approves the following Extended School Year Program for Summer 2018: 3

ESY 2018 Dates: July 9th to August 2nd MD program from 8:30 to 12:00 (Monday through Thursday) Grades K-4 (include students entering 5th grade) 8:30 to 12:00 (Monday through Thursday) Grades 5-7 program will run from 9:00 to 11:00 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) P/P - 24 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approves Mr. Rennie to attend the NJ Association of School Business Officials Annual Workshop in Atlantic City, June 7-8. Total estimated cost $586.08. P/P 25 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, ratifies the following updates to the 2017-2018 school year calendar to satisfy the state requirement that public schools be in session for a minimum of 180 days per school year: March 30th 2018: school will be in session, and following an Early Dismissal schedule June 20th, June 21st and June 22nd: Early Dismissal days Last day of school: Friday, June 22nd (updated from Friday, June 15th) P/P 26 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, approves the attached 2017-2018 PARCC - Security Plan (Attached). P/P - 27 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approves the following school trip: Trip to ShopRite of Franklin at ShopRite on May 22, 2018. FACILITIES/FINANCE MOTION presented by Mr. Donegan and seconded by Ms. Donegan to approve: F/F 21 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education approves the March 2018 Check Register for checks from 001120 through 013743 with March Payroll, electronic funds transfers of $278,704.61 and accounts payable of $167,322.92 for a total of $446,027.53 4

F/F 22 RESOLVED that Ogdensburg Board of Education, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.12(c), accepts that as of February 28, 2018 no line item account has encumbrances and expenditures, which in total exceed the line item appropriation in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11(a). Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.14(c) 4, after review of the Board Secretary s and Treasurer s monthly financial reports certify that as of February 28, 2018 and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, to the best of their knowledge, no major account or fund has been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11 and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. and N.J.S.A. 18A:22.8 and 18A:22-8.1 and sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year, and furthermore, F/F 23 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education accepts, in compliance with NJSA 18A: 22-8.1, line item transfers for the month of March 2017, to ensure that no line items are over-expended (Attached). F/F - 24 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education approves the District s participation in the joint transportation agreement that authorizes Sussex County Regional Cooperative to handle all transportation needs of Ogdensburg Elementary School with Hopatcong Board of Education as the Cooperative s LEA for the 2018/2019 school year according to the attached contract(s). F/F - 25 WHEREAS, on 3/27/2018 the Ogdensburg Board of Education conducted a public bid opening for the award of Exterior Bridge Replacement at Ogdensburg Elementary School (State Project #3840-050-18-100) which yielded the following for consideration: Contractor Bid Drill Construction Company Inc. $181,000 Wallkill Group $146,000 William Kohl Construction $236,200 Ferraro Construction $155,000 and; WHEREAS, the lowest bid substantially exceeds the Board of Education s budgetary projections NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education rejects all bids for the Exterior Bridge Replacement at Ogdensburg Elementary School (State Project #3840-050-18-100). 5

F/F 26 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education, approves the attached Use of School Facilities for Project Self-Sufficiency (to use the South parking lot on April 17th from 1:00 to 5:00pm) F/F 27 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education approves the disposal the following nonoperative / non-functioning equipment: Card Catalog / Fixed Asset Number # 000110 and #000109 F/F 28 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education approves Parette Somjen Architects to submit the Ogdensburg BOE Security Upgrades (State Project #3840-050-18-2000) to the New Jersey Department of Education. Furthermore, this project is being funded by other capital and the Ogdensburg Board of Education will not be seeking state funding. If required, an amendment will be made to the school s Long Range Facilities Plan. F/F - 29 RESOLVED, that the Ogdensburg Board of Education graciously accepts the donation of a flute, wireless mic, music stand and keyboard stand by the DiBerardino family (with an approximate total value of $405).
