PMMS Mustang News Dr. Jasmine Kullar, Principal December 2, 2016 News from Dr. Kullar Teacher and Staff of the Month Please join me in congratulating our technology/engineering teacher, Ms. Eunice Bryant for being nominated teacher of the month at our November s faculty meeting before the break. Ms. E. Bryant is a great teacher with a fabulous positive attitude! She is always smiling and is incredibly dedicated to our school, our staff and our students. We also want to congratulate one of our custodians, Ms. Lucy Autry for being nominated staff of the month. Ms. Lucy has been at PMMS for several years now and the staff continues to sing her praises. Whenever a custodian is needed or called on for help, she always responds and comes with a smile on her face to help us out. Congratulations to both Ms. E. Bryant and Ms. Lucy! A huge thank you to one of our real estate business partners, Ms. Melissa Krudwig for sponsoring this for us and for giving each of our winners a $125 gift certificate! 2016 Giving Tree Please help us give back to our Pine Mountain Middle School family by simply taking a star from the Giving Tree. The tree is in the front office. The star will have a gift card amount or a specific item for a deserving family. Please return the stars, when you deliver the gift card and/or the specific item unwrapped to the school's front desk by the morning of 12/13/16. Parent Coffee I will host a parent coffee for our parents on December 14 th at 8:30am. This is a great opportunity to stop by and her what we re doing and ask any questions you may have. I hope to see our parents attend this informational event. 6th Grade Students of the Week Adain Brown is always prepared for class and is responsible with all his assignments. He does his best on every task and is kind to others. Yulia Vodovoz is kind, caring, and friendly young lady which makes her a role model for classmates; she has a cheery demeanor that has made her a friend to many. A true asset to sixth grade! 6th Grade Teachers Humanities Students of the Week Congrats to Cassaundra Caesar and William Streck for receiving the honor of students of the week. Cassaundra is an enthusiastic learner with high academic standards, a diligent worker, and she always offers a helping hand to her teachers and classmates. William is courteous to teachers and students, he excels academically, he approaches every learning opportunity with creativity, and he is a resource to his classmates. Both students are able to maintain a smile throughout the challenges of a school day. Well done Cassaundra and William, well done! Humanities Teachers STEM Students of the Week Gabi Caseiro is an extremely hard working, dedicated young woman. Her dedication shows through in every assignment she turns in. Gabi is a team player and gets along well with her classmates. She is always engaged in the lesson and asks great questions during class discussions! Jacob Rippe is an outstanding student! He is always on-task and engaged during each lesson. Jacob asks questions and participates regularly during class. His hard work and attention to detail is evident in each assignment he turns in. Reflections Update Congratulations to two Pine Mountain students who s artwork won awards at the Tom Mathis Sr. Council PTA Reflections ceremony. Emma Van Eekeren won 1st place for Photography for 7th Grade. Amber Douglas won 1st place for Music, 2nd place for Literature, and 3rd place for Visual Arts 2D for 8th Grade. The 1st and 2nd place pieces will move on to the State of Georgia competition in the Spring. We re so proud of your efforts! PMMS Annual Giving Tree Our annual Giving Tree program has officially started and this year we have many families in need. We have placed ornaments on the tree that have wish list items printed on them. If you decide to take an ornament, please turn your gift in along with the ornament so we are able to match the gift to the family. All gifts should be unwrapped and brought to one of the counselor s office by Tuesday, December 13 th. Donations are also welcome and appreciated to assist in purchasing gifts. Please support our REACH classes by purchasing a student-created cookbook with recipes including Gingerbread Waffles, Grilled Macaroni and Cheese Sandwiches, and many other delicious treats! Better yet, they are only $5! Cookbook pre-orders will be taken next week, December 5th-9th. Grab an envelope from the front office, place $5 inside, and drop the envelope in any black box around the school. Your cookbook will then be delivered to you the following week. Missed the pre-order? Cookbooks will also be on sale in the cafeteria from December 14-16. All proceeds from the cookbook sale will be used to purchase needed items for our REACH classes. Toy Drive Student council is putting on a holiday toy drive December 1-16. We will be collecting new and gently used toys to donate to the American Kidney Service. Students should turn in the toys to their 3rd period class.

Chick-fil-a Nugget Sales Chick-fil-A nugget sales will be on Friday, December 16th. Please remind your students that it is only $3 each and will be sold in the common areas. First come first serve and a limited quantity is available. Spirit Night Thursday, December 15th will be a spirit night at Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. It is the new location on the corner of Barrett Parkway and Cobb Parkway in the Kennesaw Marketplace. The time is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and proceeds will benefit Pine Mountain Middle School and the PTA. Please come out and join the fun as Dr. Kullar and some of our teachers will be serving frozen yogurt. There will be a fun contest to see which teacher wins by serving the most students. Help us by joining in the fun!
