ST PIUS X SCHOOL NEWSLETTER SCHOOL VISION Learn to Love and Love to Learn At St Pius X Catholic Primary School, the values lived by Jesus Christ are the foundation for everything we do. Newsletter 37 Term 4 Week 8 30 November 2016 DATES TO REMEMBER Friday 2 December Graduation Mass @ 1.15pm Heavenly Father, as we begin this Advent, give light to our eyes and peace to our hearts. May the Lord find us watching and waiting in joy when He comes. We pray in Jesus' name. Monday 5 December Tennis Lessons @ 7:45am Keyed-Up Music Recital @ 9am Wednesday 7 December End of Year Fun Day Free Dress Day Do you need a break from the hectic pace? Advent prayers remind us to stop and take time to focus on what really counts this time of year, to prepare for the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ, both in the Nativity and in His Second Coming as well! During Advent, we await the celebration of Jesus s birth at Christmas while taking stock of our readiness for His return. Pope John Paul II once remarked that he hoped that Advent would be a time for us to strengthen our commitment to our Christian faith. Focusing on the Nativity as well as on the Second Coming reminds us of the timelessness of God s love, and of the importance of showing others His love in our thoughts, words, and actions. Incursion K-6 1:30-2:30pm Advent reminds us to give of ourselves and to be open to reflecting Christ s presence in our lives, as we think about His being born in a manger in Bethlehem to redeem us from our sins so that we may share Eternal Life with Him in Heaven! Friday 9 December Yr. 6 Assembly END OF TERM Take care this week and may you be blessed with many good things. Kind Regards Daine Burnett Principal burnett.daine@cathednet.wa.edu.au Telephone (08) 9450 2797 Website: www.stpiusx.wa.edu.au Email: admin@stpiusx.wa.edu.au

School Concert Well I don t know what to say! Let s start with an absolutely magnificent evening that was thoroughly enjoyed by all! I am sure you will all agree that the children were fantastic in their performances and brilliant in their behaviour. It still amazes me that in such a short period of time the students are able to produce such high quality performances. A special thank you to all the children for their ability to rise to the occasion. I would also like to thank Jenna from EduDance, the staff for putting together such a great night and finally the P&F for organising all the extras and catering. Thank you all. Enjoy the wonderful photos taken by one of our very talented parents. We received many words of thanks and praise from the night so I thought I would share some of these with you. To all of The St Pius team, I just wanted to thank you for putting on such a wonderful event last Friday. The concert bought so much joy to myself, my husband, my mother and most importantly my children. I loved all the songs and the dancing was amazing! Just want to say thank you for a wonderful end of year concert on Friday night. It was a very lovely evening and the children all seemed to thoroughly enjoy their performances. Thanks must also go to all the staff for their time and effort in setting up for the event and preparing the children. Thank you to the P&F for organising the food for the night. Looking forward to next year's. Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed Friday night. The Concert was flawless, kids were gorgeous and it ran so smoothly. Thanks to all the staff for organising such a fantastic event. Reports The end of year formal reports will be sent home after school finishes to your postal address. Please make sure you have the correct address listed with the school so that the children s reports do arrive. If you don t receive a report please contact us early next year to arrange another copy. Family-Funded Program Helping CEWA families connect for LEADing Lights LEADing Lights is about connecting parents, students and staff with each other; it will better connect educators and school leaders across the system to provide services that support truly engaging learning experiences using digital technology. A practical consideration in making the LEADing Lights transformation effective is supporting schools and parents to access the devices that will best serve the learning needs of students and staff. CEWA has negotiated two programs designed to extend education discounts and priority customer support for families enrolled in CEWA schools. The Family-Funded Program, available for CEWA families through Apple, will provide priority customer support as well as extended education discount eligibility and ease of purchase for Apple products. The Family-Funded Program brings over-the-phone, retail, and online purchase support with an education discount for students and staff, as well as family members. It also includes an Online Personal Set Up service, which connects families with an Apple specialist to familiarise them with their device and useful apps in a 30-minute session. CEWA has also been working with JB HiFi, who are providing an online education store option for CEWA families, with education discounts on Microsoft Surface products. ceo.wa.edu.au/familyfunded now has all the information that parents will need regarding the Program, as well as online portals for both Apple and JB HiFi. Apple also have staff briefed to assist with any questions you may have. You can contact them directly at: Apple Perth City 08 6140 3820 perthcitybusiness@apple.com Apple Garden City 08 6557 6020 gardencityperthbusiness@apple.com
