The theme this year is Today s Schools, Creating Tomorrow s World. On Thursday 9 August, we invite our school community to a BBQ breakfast starting at 7:30 am, with proceeds from the gold coin donation going towards helping our farmers in this time of drought. Classrooms will then be open from 8:30 am 9:30 am showcasing the great teaching and learning practices happening at our school. Next Thursday 16 August, we will celebrate NAIDOC Week at our school with various activities throughout the day including a special performance by Lucas Proudfoot. This year s NAIDOC theme is because of her, we can. This theme celebrates the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made and continue to make - to our communities, our families, our rich history and to our nation. All parents/carers..everyone welcome! Reminder: Our school day begins from 8:30 am in the morning when the first play bell rings. Please, if possible, avoid sending your child to school prior to this time as there is minimal supervision of students. Book Week: Time to get those costumes out! Parents and Caregivers, you are invited to our Thurgoona Public School K-6 Book Parade. Students will come dressed up as a favourite character from a beloved book and participate in a parade showing off their fabulous costume to the school community. Labelled items will be returned to classrooms. Unlabelled items will be donated to the Uniform Shop at the end of this week. Please only take items belonging to you. Please also check name tags on jumpers and return to school if someone else s jumper has made its way to your home.

School News The Book Fair will be held in the library from Wednesday 29 August to Wednesday 5 September. Please visit the library to view the range of books available for purchase at the annual Book Fair. The library will be open every morning from 8:30 am to 8:55 am and every afternoon from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Dear Parents and families of Thurgoona Public School, I have some exciting news! My partner and I are expecting a baby in late January. We are thrilled to be able to announce our future addition! I plan to work as long as I can, and all going well, should be here until the end of the year. Lions Club Public Speaking Finals I had the pleasure of listening to three outstanding public speaking finalists last Sunday afternoon. Natalie Chant, Taylor Furze and Isabella Haberman who all spoke confidently and passionately about our local community. The judges had a difficult time deciding on the overall winners of the competition as all the speakers were excellent. Congratulations to Taylor Furze who won her section and now goes on the next level. We wish you the best of luck Taylor!
